Thanks for sharing your experience. It's neat to see the perspective of someone who has lived through past eras of strife. For me, though. I don't celebrate the day. In various years past I did, but it's been a very long time ago. I'm a lot younger than you, and I had the privilege of being born wit...

When studying ancient Greek mythology I took a particular liking to the muse Euterpe, as she is said to have created the aulos and other wind instruments. It may not be super evident (although it is in the obscure meaning of my username), but I'm like a major wind instrument nerd, could even call it...

I don't mean that in a "I'm scared of the dentist" kinda way, I mean in the way of struggling with having stuff in their mouths. I'm thinking this is a sensory issue that I have, but I've never had a word for it. I've used all kinds of techniques to make it better, I'm generally okay with ...

I guess another issue is that people rarely have one irrational set of beliefs. A lot of people that “speak in tongues” are also into faith healing which causes real demonstrable harm. They may be more susceptible to falling for anti-science conspiracy theories and the like, but I suppose that does...

A group with Trump’s Faith Office praying and speaking in tongues at the White House I cannot even begin to tell you how dystopian and scary it feels to see this kind of stuff in the government. I recognize everything they're saying (not the gibberish "speaking in tongues", of course), as...

I'm familiar with speaking in tongues and it doesn't impress me as a nonbeliever. In fact, I find it quite cringe. But do note that I'm picturing false prophet Hank Kunneman and some other Trump-worshiping Christofascist scam artist (of whose name I forget. Wish I could also forget about Kunneman. D...

I was raised with King James Bible. My grandpa swore by it.

Nowadays, I know it's not the most accurate translation. But also, I don't believe anymore, so... meh.

I have not yet been diagnosed, but my experience in telling those IRL that I'm suspecting has been somewhat mixed. A close friend of who's insight I really trust told me that she didn't see it aside from in my sensory issues with food. This was a bit shocking to me. It was right after I joined this ...

Don't you guys have dishwasher? Every house and apartment here seem to have one. :? I never liked washing dishes. If something is not ok to go into the dishwasher I just won't use it. I don't. While my parents' house does have one (but it's been broken for a couple of years), neither this apartment...

Yikes. No religion should ever be involved in government, ever. And this is one reason why. (although, many of our cultures are ridiculously sexist with or without religion, unfortunately.)

this trump and RFK endorsed MAHA group are insinuating ultraprocessed foods (food dyes), environmental chemicals, digital behavior, vaccines and “overmedicalization” is somehow responsible for the rise in autism diagnoses? Is MAHA even qualified to investigate this? They absolutely aren't, and ever...

Well, I believe everything is a spectrum and it's probably indeed possible to not even have a special interest as an autistic individual, but I don't know because I'm not qualified to say one way or the other. With someone who is AuDHD (which I believe I am most likely), I can imagine you could have...

I hate being naked at any point really. Even in my own private bathroom in my apartment. When in a locker room and shower, I tend to try to cover up best I can even there. I have a pair of bikini bottoms that is separate from my swim attire that I wear to the pool/beach and I will leave that ...

Between 1880 and 1905 there were well over 36,000 strikes involving 6 million workers. Do you know what they were striking for? The biggest ask was an 8 hour work day. Do you know what Congress focused on instead? Passing obscenity law, obsessing about sex and white women's purity. Creating instabi...

I've never had children. I have caught baby fever a few times, though, especially as I grow a little older... But I'm mixed on it. I am a person who needs a lot of space, and I know that having children means you have no more space. Like not even being able to use the bathroom in peace... Ugh. Anoth...

Are you not scared of burning in hell Well, I mean that'd certainly be awful if it's real. There's a big "if" there. I don't have any reason to believe in it to begin with. Besides... There are tons and tons of religions in our world. What makes one so certain that the God of the Bible is...
