Think of it this way - if you can pay all your bills, feed yourself, and put a little to the side every month, you are doing VERY well. Lots of people have more debt than income. Living with a parent/caregiver. Take that as an opportunity to save. There is no shame in living with a parent. Some woul...

BSB degree in accounting. I was pretty burned out by office work and ended up in construction for a while. Coworkers were always shocked by my background. Cool job, felt accomplished every day, but very dangerous and much lower paying. And schedule very unpredictable. I'm back in office work. Stress...

Welcome! It's comforting to hear you approach the situation with such care. I would say do your best to introduce him to new things. Even if you go through a lot of them. He may find his special interest this way (autistics thrive on special interests/intense passions). Not saying you do, but please...

It will be hard to break the dopamine "link" between your child and the ipad but can hopefully be managed.

Is your daughter on the spectrum? I ask since she may naturally crave routines. This could be a good opportunity to leverage that tendency... set times, alarms, limits, et cetera.

Had similar behavior when I was a kid. Still convinced I have trouble processing spoken words. Most school days consisted of little K wandering the playground looking for something non-human to interact with. Needless to say my social skills faltered. Maybe set up a playdate with another child on th...

I have had deep depressive episodes in adulthood over the bullying I went through, mainly in high school. There was one big dude who would hunt me down like a shark, sit next to me, turn towards me, then humiliate me by touching my earlobes (weird, right?), stealing my food, talking about how small ...

While I like to forgive and forget, I couldn't with a bully I had. She started off with being my friend at 17, then at 19 she began bullying me quite viciously. I had to get my phone number changed and was afraid to go out for a while. I hadn't seen or heard from her until I was 21, when I bumped i...

Lol, being good and persistent is about all we can do. Carbonhalo, yes... it seems like once I reach 3 years, is when increasing job duties reach a "tipping point". Too much mental energy demanded, and by that point there have been enough awkward interactions to where most coworkers have p...

Hi All. Brand new here. Figured I'd start (/rant) with something I deal with a lot - maintaining good standing at work, and the burnout that comes with it. If this topic has been beaten to death, apologies. I have ASD level 1, male. Only diagnosed at 26 and basically confirmed by different psych thi...
