I think the initial question and the slant the writer puts on those who self diagnose is really a bit "off". Basically I don't see a difference between the motivation for self diagnosis and the motivation for "official" diagnosis - which would be to get a better understanding of how you function and...

What is MR?
I am in new zealand and maybe don't know your terminology.
I too suffer from insomnia, or an inablity to go to sleep at an appropriate time and a tendency to want to go to sleep at an inappropriate time.
I suspect the only answer is to try and be gentle with ourselves.
