My observations of rehab for older adults may apply--maybe not? Most people don't practice enough. I personally find it best to practice several times a day, in short sessions so I don't get too tired. We are looking for skill, not endurance! But, this is rarely done. It is really hard to get better...

Building prototypes is something that I'm really gifted at. It is really tough, even for normal people. Seriously--there are lots of bright students in top colleges that can't build stuff. It takes an awful lot of practice and study. I've built hundreds of models--rockets, airplanes, cars. I've also...

This is a really complicated issue--it can be very hard to separate what child wants versus what their parents want. Even more confusing--what people want will often change as they grow up. For instance--guys who wanted to be normal change their minds after their growth spurt--hoping that they will ...

Perhaps you are defining "potential" too literally. I'd define potential as what you can be that society considers valuable enough to pay you well. This may or may not have anything to do with what you are actually interested in or makes you happy. In this case, you may just end up with a high payin...

Yes, we had issues because she expected me to communicate non-verbally the way NTs do. Our relationship has gotten much better since we both understand the need for speaking up early and often. We have now been married over 11 years!

Could that be another difference between NTs and Aspies?--while we can learn to be sociable, we can also lose those skills if we don't use them. With NTs this is hardwired--losing those skills is like losing your right hand--it only happens with severe trauma.

All the time!

NTs do that because they can't read you--they aren't getting the typical NT feedback they are expecting. In other words, they expect the normal NT nonverbal conversation but you aren't saying anything.

As you get older your opportunities for social interaction change--your mandatory social interaction changes for educational settings to work settings. I think the work setting can be a trap in that some people may not get enough interaction--and not realize that they need to spend more time talking...

Since the economy is in such bad shape in many parts of the USA, expect to see more abusive customers who are looking for ways of venting their frustration. A good company will have policies that empower employers to say "no" when customers have ridiculous expectations.

One tip I've learned is that you want to study what NTs do and do it just as well or a tiny bit better. You don't want to be like the Adam character in the movie and try to do way more than the boss asks--no matter what you think--the boss is ALWAYS right. You should study NTs to better fit in--fitt...

I find that I go from one hobby to another. Since I spend a lot of time in any one hobby at a time, there really isn't enough time to participate in more than one or two at a time.

A treadmill stress test might be a good idea--I had one not too long ago to make sure there weren't any cardiac issues. I find it helps to ease into extremely strenuous activities--such as digging big holes in the yard come springtime. Don't try to do everything in one day. As a bonus, I find this a...
