Psychiatrists, especially those who work in hospitals where patients can't leave of their own volition, don't ever have to deliver any results. If their 90% of their patients end up back in the mental health system, this is assumed to be because mental illness is magic and the doctors are just helpl...

Any series of random data can be interpreted to mean anything you want. This is why people can claim the Bible is secretly a code that says Jesus is an alien and they can have the math to back them up, because there's enough letters in there that you can weasel whatever "secret code" you want out of...

Hmm. That looks like a probable match, but a weight loss center seems like a weird place to go for evaluation for the kinds of things he was telling me about (he seems to think it's mostly because he's autistic, but I think it's got more to do with the voices he says he hears and which I forgot to m...

Places like the Rotenberg Center are precisely why I'm concerned, but I'm not seeing a whole lot of options, here. I was planning to try and get a name or address at some point, so I'd have a lead to check up on in case he ever suddenly vanished (he'd already told me they were considering hospitaliz...

This is quite possibly in the wrong section, because the relevancy of autism is a bit tangential. An autistic acquaintance recently informed me that he's being sent someplace he called Yscross Center in Lexington, Kentucky for evaluation for the next two weeks. I'm a bit concerned, seeing as he does...

Autism is defined as a person who exhibits a certain group of behaviors differing from the norm. As far as the actual literal definition of the word is concerned, it does not matter what thought process arrives at those behaviors.

You think she had it bad? In the seedier parts of America, vicious gang violence is a fact of life from the age of three and up! You think they have it bad? In the seedier parts of Mexico, lethal gang violence is a fact of life from birth! You think they have it bad? In most of Somalia, the gangs ar...

Seriously, Andro, are you trolling? That's a level of blatant propagandizing that I find seriously hard to swallow as being stated genuinely by anyone over the age of fourteen capable of successfully stringing sentences together unless some serious brainwashing is involved.

Er, sorry, EFT tapping? What is that? At those who are afraid of becoming tyrannical: You really shouldn't let the possibility of failure hold you back from at least trying something. Just by acknowledging the possibility, you're much more likely to be on guard for it and avoid it than many other pe...

Heh. I was really paranoid as a kid, too. Was constantly worried about people being able to read my mind, occasionally checked to see if I'd been warped to an alternate dimension with subtle (but, I was sure, important) differences from my own, and was suspicious that the Yeerks from Animorphs might...

Pretty much my whole life, I have exhibited several negative symptoms of schizophrenia, because I'm autistic. When I was fifteen, I believed that the world was on the verge of being taken over by a centuries-old conspiracy whose plan would be reaching its end-game within the next few decades, and wh...

But what, precisely, qualifies as a delusion? "The CIA are working for lizard invaders and are out to get me" would qualify, sure, but I imagine that's not the least extreme example. Plenty of perfectly functional people believed that 9/11 was an inside job at one point (everyone seems to have forgo...

In my opinion Nuerotypical people will discriminate only if it is socially acceptable to do so. This is not an opinion. This is a statement which can be proven true or false. It also leaves no room for any exceptions. So, again, prove it . If all you're going to do is keep shouting that you're righ...
