I don't believe in "gender". Just biological sex. As a scientist, I just can't wrap my head around this whole weird social stuff going on with gender. It's nonexistent and I don't support it and never have. The only thing that makes you male or female is your DNA. I'm not including uni-sex...

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: How would you define small talk?

Most introverted people hate small talk. Small talk is the basic weather information or asking someone what they're doing after work. Well, at least from my understanding. My brother is an extrovert, but he hates small talk as much as I do (I'm an NT). I understand what small talk is and the purpose...

I know that a lot of you do this--and I figured almost everyone does it until I asked my friend. I can listen to the same song for hours and days without getting sick of it. I usually stop listening to it if I find a new song that I like even more. For instance, an example of my Last.FM http://i.img...

When people give me verbal instructions--my mind automatically goes into autopilot. I don't even try to understand what they say anymore because I'll just get frustrated. I just stare at them blankly and they usually say nevermind, haha!

I'm an NT female. And twice a year I glue myself to the computer for days and can't get off. Why? Mercedes-benz spring fashion show, and mercedes-benz fall fashion show. I'm also an artist, and a complete nature freak. Half my computer is filled with images of outfits that I would like to die in. B...

I absolutely love fashion--it's one of the ways that I express myself; I usually dress differently than other girls my age. I consider myself quite fashionable :P I even have a blog dedicated (below) to my clothes and the things that I do. I didn't care for makeup until I was nineteen, now I absolut...

Maybe you can help me or may be I can help you. Anyhow, last night I worked late and when I come home I can not go right to sleep. I went to sleep around 1:30AM. This morning my wife woke me up at about 8:45AM. She put my 14 month old daughter in our room and closed the door, so she could get ready...

I was an exchange student to Japan. It is true that trains run on time and that there is an exactness in many things they do. However, Japan is not Aspie paradise. They have many, many social rules, many of them unspoken. They will not tell you if you are rude or offensive. You will simply find you...

GOD, I wish I lived by myself. I would love to have a loft all to myself. I lived in a studio under my host parents' flat in Europe and it was so awesome. I would listen to music while doing my laundry, surfing on the internet, lounging in my armchair reading a novel. It was so relaxing! I also had ...

I have Skull Candy headphones which work pretty well to cancel out any outside noise, I am ALWAYS listening to my music when I am out of the house--it has become a necessity. I usually listen to my music as well if my parents are watching the television (I always sit in the living-room since my room...

I prefer the cold. You can always just layer your clothing--I absolutely hate the heat though. I'm from Miami and it's way too hot there. And I hate it when it's so sunny and bright outside since sunlight reflects off my glasses, causing me to feel blinded. And my skin gets all hot and sticky, I hat...

If you study Anthropology you will find that cultures are often compared to each other as "high content" or "High context" The Japanese culture is the Number on "High Context" culture. This means that they do not say what they mean and you have to infer the meanings from 1 of 1000s social rules. As...

Yes, my body is always tensed--especially my shoulders. I should probably get deep tissue massages more often...

I grind my teeth as well... Friends and ex boyfriends usually try to tell me to "relax"--even when I do not notice that my body is all tensed up...
