Not me, but I work in a lab testing blends of polymers and other materials. I have a shallow understanding of material science. It is fascinating but I have not done the deep-dive. A lot of progress is being made and will be made in the field. I expect eventually we will see more genetic engineering...

Put yourself in some group situation regularly, like a bowling league, yoga class, church, i-dont-know-what. Then don't hunt; just be yourself. Eventually she (unspecified she, oh she of countless gifts and charms) will pick you. Oh wait, you have a deadline and a budget. You need statistical advant...

Similarly to Ganondox I think; if some math describes something true in our universe, and you manipulate the equations (or inequalities, etc) properly, (according to the discovered rules) - then your result also describes something true in the universe. You may not yet have the means to verify it, b...

Nothing as fancy as previous posters. A set of functions for the command line that take input and write or retrieve data from a SQLite database. Originally to practice implementing tagging, the use of db triggers, and wrapping SQLite functionality generally; it became my go-to note-taking app. I've ...

I tinkered with R some. Bought an R cookbook. What do you want to do with it? Between R and Python with Numpy and similar libraries, oh and IPython Notebook now called Jupiter... You should be able to do lots of stats without spending money. Julia is another to check out. Also Frink. Depends on what...

Get with it! I think that is the defining characteristic of NTs. "it" being "what the rest of us are doing/thinking/assuming/adopting/..." You don't often hear them say "Get with it!" to each other, except in jest. They don't have to because they're hard-wired to be se...

I hate most toothpaste taste and always have. But here's the thing: ORAL BACTERIA AFFECT YOUR HEART. Look it up. You need to keep that stuff in check.Find yourself a way to floss and brush after every meal, upon waking, before retiring for the night. Or approximately so. Put travel-size toothpaste a...

Also, is ARTICLE: There exists a classical model of the photon after all related directly to String Theory? Researchers at MIT have already found striking similarities to the de Broglie-Bohm theory. Interesting. I have seen some articles recently about droplets behaving like photons in the double-s...

Everyone is making good points. If math falls short as a descriptive or explanatory tool, I submit it has as much to do with the persons fluency with the math as it does the math itself. Some people seem to have a deep immediate grasp of functions and other constructs. Math really speaks to them. I ...
