OP- you quit. In the state of Florida, if you quit, you are ineligible for unemployment. Unfortunatly, many bosses know this. They set you up to fall (or fail) and push you until you quit. And if you quit, they are off the hook for the unemployment (that's where a majority of the funds come from, e...

Everyones ideas and comments have been super helpful. Thanks everyone! I called my caseworker at Vocational Rehab, and asked him if my test results were in yet (got psych. testing couple of weeks ago from VR psychologist) and he said no, not yet, but he will check status of pending results. I said, ...

Fior lost his last job due to "him not being a team player". He has a flat affect when stressed (work was a huge stressor), a "formal" way of talking in casual situations, and he could not fake "being nice". He got canned and replaced by someone less skilled, but "easier to get along with.". :( His...

oh, I know. I'm confusing sometimes. I did collect unemployment for the job that was previous to the last one. This last one, they didn't approve me, so I had to file an appeal. This makes 2 jobs in a row that I lost specifically due to the fact of my "learning disability" which is how I refer to my...

Hi everyone For the last 10 weeks, I have been filing for unemployment and because of Florida Law I have to apply for at least 5 jobs per week and report them online to be able to qualify to file. Which I have been doing faithfully, but am now running out of jobs to apply for. I really am scared tha...

I think it could be a good idea. Isn't it worth a try just to see what happens? CV "Rules" are meant to be broken, and if you have had a string of interview failures, what have you got to lose? Personally I would delete "significant" (soften it), and reorder it. Go straight for the positive aspects...

It's a common perception of Aspies. I think the reason is just because we don't observe all the NT niceties. When I try to act like NT at work they laugh at me. I'm not good at faking it, and it's grade school all over again. However when I don't fake it and just go along normally then people call ...

Three months ago, I lost my job..... The reason why I got that particular job in the first place, was because of this guy that was working there, I came in as a shopper and met him one day, in the spring of 2010. I admit to being a stalker, and applied to the company over and over until they hired m...

Being a functional adult who identifies as aspie isn't widely accepted at all. It just seems to me that Australia is still in the stage of defensiveness and hostility, hence my reaching out here. I haven't heard anything about adult support groups. After reading some of the stories here, I've decid...

Wow, I thought I was alone when it came to growling. I used to do it all the time. Now it's only when playing with the dog :) I have always made animal noises, some, i've been told, are shockingly realistic! I once convinced someone there was a real goose in the other room! lol Oh god. Once when I ...

No, that's clearly not socially acceptable. Swearing is not acceptable either, but at least it doesn't make one look like crazy in society's eyes. It's better to try and find out another way to cope with the situation than doing this. People don't understand stimming, which is easier to understand ...

I strongly suggest you stop with the really weird behavior in public. If you don't you will probably lose your job, and you might even be carted off for an in patient stay for a mental evaluation. How about just telling people that you work better when left alone.? Or just tell them that you need t...

| Wow i'm glad i asked this question, it seems that its more of a common behavior than i thought. I appreciate everyones opinions. | LOL okay, I just posted a response to someone's post on the work-related topics board about getting caught doing OCD or stimming at work, which I have like many times, and gotten made fun of because of that, naturally, but then how I dealt with getting picked on for it was by developing the aberrant... |

Hi....I have also been caught doing OCD behaviors at several various jobs, it was to self-soothe. As I got older, like past 40, it got a little weirder and I started stimming without knowing what it was, I just thought I was fidgety but now I know what the heck it is, it's also a self-soothing or co...
