"no, you're wrong" Most likely. I'm making an analogy, which probably isn't perfect. It's interesting to explore how much of the analogy matches and at what point it breaks down. An NT isn't much more likely to have a high-functioning form of borderline personality disorder than they are to h...

True, and I do think a significant fact is that NBP is generally the result of childhood trauma or abuse, There is some suggestion of BP cases that are neurologically based and not necessarilly due to childhood traume or abuse. To test the theory would require distinguishing between the cases which...

Makes sense to me, I can really see it. The cause of conformity (and how to "cure" it ;) ) I'm quite serious. The workbook was targetted for the "NonBP" and how the BP behavior affects you. I found that I matched the NonBP description (in my world view) rather well, and the descriptions of HFBP mat...

I've got a personal theory about NT's and am curious if you guy's have seen this as well. It occurs to me that anyone can be classified as a "person with High Functioning X Dissorder". In the Aspie case, X is roughtly Autism. But for NT's I've gotten close to, X seems to be "Borderline Personality" ...

Nobody seems to keep up with my interests. They are far too specialized. My best friend in college focused on Physics. He thought he was studying reality and thus knew everything at times. He picked up a job doing computer support at the University and started getting uppity about how he knew so muc...

We are lucky today in this world of supermarkets and house insulation and heat that is available by only moving a dial, i dont know about you, but socially i am freezing. Well now, isn't that the problem? There are more of "them" than "us". The solution is simple; make more babies and avoid joining...

I was thinking about something my current bf and I went through when we started living together (that is, my need for personal space / time alone and my "blunt, untactful" requests for it...) that I thought I'd share to see if anyone alse knows what this is like: Yes, I know exactly what that is li...

I hope I haven't derailed you as I think this is an important topic to work on. My main point was to avoid doing what all the other books have already done; list t... |

I agree with you, if you just stereotype things everything becomes repeditive and less interesting, and everyone is different in their own unique way. I'm different from One-Winged-Angel because I have an obsession with drawing whereas he has an obsession with Sephiroth. I am also most likey taller...

You're scaring me with the part about "jumping in front of trains". If your mind works anything like mine, then 1) avoid trains, 2) sta... |

I don't know... One person I know, who is certainly not black, doesn't want to use "the N word", an feels it is NEVER warranted! Yet he WILL use the term "White trash" even when it ISN'T warranted. By how they are used, the N word is basically like the "white trash" phrase, but speaks of BLACKS. BT...

I started this topic because I felt like there wasn't any one comprehensive guide to Asperger's on the site (minus the helpful Assesments in the Writing and Poetry section). I want it to be contributed to by ANY member on the site (a bit like Wikipedia), because the ones who know it best are the on...

In response to the hosts question, I do wear aspie like a badge. Mostly because people around me are kind and open minded. Also because of what being an aspie means. I find being an aspie to be akin to being a genius. Aspie is a gift for me and this world. Yes, this is what I'm looking to understan...

I appreicate the answers everyone supplied. It's much clearer now that the definition of a social forum is different for AS than NT perspectives. For an NT, this forum might not meet the definition of "social". But for an AS, the NT concept of social is really quite asocial and entirely insensitive ...

Let's not forget how serious AS is, many AS people try and commit suicide, self mutilate, suffer from severe depression, many will also go on to develope secondary traits such as OCD,Tourettes, bi-polar. So if you want to wear AS as abadge of honour and it helps you cope so be it. You have no idea how...

There is a difference between having socializing difficulties and being completely asocial. No human on earth is completely asocial unless they're a vegetable. And it seems that "Aspie" forums have worked so far. So as far as a contradiction, I don't see one other than if you take a "social disabil...
