| I know there's a thread like this in Kid's Crater, but this is geared more towards the older aspies/autistics who aren't kids. :P So, do you have imaginary friends? I'm curious because I feel like I'm the only person in their mid twenties who still seems to have them right now. D: It makes me feel ... |

Some discussion boards have aromas. LOL
At one point I took to keeping scented candles in the room where my computer was to drown it out. |

| Thanks, BirdInFlight! Good idea, of me trying to find a specialist myself! After all, I'm the one who had to go hunting online to come up with the name of the POTS doctor I asked him to send me to! (My doctor is super nice, believes me when I tell him my symptoms, and says 'no problem' when I ask t... |

| I was diagnosed at age 57. I went through quite a bit of reframing of my past. It made me a little weepy at first, so I took lots of long walks. In the longer run, I actually found some peace over old hurts and disappointments. I took a little cognitive therapy and mostly discovered that I had a lif... |

| The way the article was worded sounded more like the point was how horrible it is to live with autistic people. And where does it say the mother tried to find a decent institution and couldn't and was at the end of her rope, the article just doesn't provide that many details in my opinion. Not sayi... |

| That is sickening....think I almost threw up a little out of disgust. Someone on the other website, where I have a mirror to this topic, questioned as to whether there were all that many instances of parents killing autistic children. After listing links to seven incidents I couldn't' take it anymo... |

| Maybe if you were responsible for the support and daily care of a severely autistic teenaged son, on your own, and without necessary help, you might be more sympathetic. I sometimes hear people talk on this site as though caregivers have endless reserves of money, time, nerves, strength, ability to... |

| I am so tired of news reports defending and excusing parents who kill their autistic children and, further, vilifying the children. Distraught mother kills herself, and son with severe autism - BC | Globalnews.ca For instance, this video begins by pointing to the "emotional and financial stress" of ... |

| I had friends until my late 20's. None really since then. It gets harder to care or try to make friends as I get older. |

| I can relate. I used to come out of a morning at church so ravenous that I was almost like Jekyl and Hyde until I got something to eat. It was as if I had just spent three hours doing hard labor. And actually I had. It was a social minefield and it took everything I had to navigate it. |

I assume that the "you can't possibly be autistic" reactions result from a mixture of misinformation about autism and my own ability to cover up my symptoms. Not from ill will. At least until proven otherwise.
The first thing can be fixed.
The second is trickier. |

When I tell everyone where I volunteer, one at a time, everything I know about the larvae of the Black Swallowtail, along with pictures I have brought.
Good times. Good times. |

| My mom used to tell people about the time I looked deeply into my 13 years older brother's eyes when I was a toddler and screamed as if I had peered into the abyss of hell. Apparently it unsettled my brother quite a bit. For most of my life this was just a puzzling family story. Now I wonder if it w... |

| ...not physically painful, but they sort of whoomph through me, which is upsetting and exhausting. For instance, if I am walking on the sidewalk and a loud truck goes by, it's like the noise-presence of the truck passes right through me rattling my sense of well-being. |
