I just had one session with a neuropsychiatrist which lasted just over one hour. No tests or evaluations, nothing apart from a lot of questions. About 20 minutes in he decided that I had mild AS, and at the end of the session he confirmed the diagnosis and sent an official diagnosis and report about...

I get lonely too. I don't need to feel that I belong to a group, but I do sometimes need someone to talk to who understands me.

Hi Keli, καλημέρα, I also live in Greece. :) I was looking around to see if there were any more members here from Greece, but there don't seem to be very many.

I was a difficult child. Lots of temper tantrums/meltdowns, got teased a lot because I was easily wound up and provoked, aloof, untidy and disorganised with bad handwriting, but advanced vocabulary and reading for my age. Everybody just thought I was spoilt. After puberty I became very withdrawn and...

In my case yes, I think it did begin in the womb. No one in my family has ASD, and my mother has leukemia when she was pregnant with me, and this is likely to have causes complications in the pregnancy.

I got a document with the diagnosis, and a 4 page report. One copy went to me, and one to my medical records.

If you were not diagnosed with classic autism and were diagnosed as Aspergers or something else before how is your diagnosis changed? This is something I'd like to have an answer for. Do I need to be reassessed? Is the diagnosis automatically updated? If I need to fill in any official forms or anyt...

For Waterfalls: I would pull the people aside and tell them that Autism is not contagious and they can treat you just like everyone else. I've done everything short of that, and it's high risk, but maybe I need to for my dignity and my sanity. So used to being told I'm not respecting others social ...

I got referred to him back in 1991 for therapy when I was having a rough time at uni and because my family suspected an eating disorder. the referral note from the GP stated that I needed to "find myself." I had 10 sessions with him but didn't go to my last one, entirely my fault. At that time, AS w...

I have a question for NTs. When you are in a room talking to a group of people, at a party say, and there are several conversations going on at once, can you follow each individual conversation, and distinguish one conversation from another? And when you are talking, do you continue to see the other...

There's nothing silent about dog whistles. My mum has one and I didn't know. I was in the room next door when she blew it. I heard the most horrendous high pitched noise, even worse than the smoke alarm. I shouted and covered my ears, and when she came to see what the matter was, I asked her what th...
