I've been going through depression & anxiety pretty much every day since last November. Right now I have maybe three better days each week, and the other four are pretty bad. I notice that my mood generally picks up in the evenings while in the mornings I almost always feel badly anxious or depr...

Furiously angry this morning, just seething, so writing to try and get it out. I can't see a way forward that isn't dark. I hate whining in others and in myself. I don't want this post to be just a whine about how bad my life is, yet my frustration is so high I have to do something, say something, t...

I've been on it since August, 2012. It seems to have caused anxiety and depression for me. At least I wasn't depressed before I started taking it, but I became depressed and much more anxious after starting it. These symptoms became worse after increasing my dose from 0.5 mg to 1 mg per day. They al...

Frequently. I agree with Sagroth and krazykat, my anxiety is way more of a problem than any other aspect of my mental state.

My wife, who's 60 and also has AS, often experiences extreme heart palpitations with increased blood pressure just as she loses consciousness while falling asleep. It wakes her up, and she then stays awake for at least one and sometimes several hours. My wife usually has steady low blood pressure an...

Modafinil is a 'cognitive enhancer' originally developed to treat narcolepsy. It acts as a stimulant but has a different method of action than amphetamines.

Please record your experience with using Modafinil, the benefits, side-effects, discontinuation effects, etc. Thanks.

I find the whole language of 'bottling up' emotions not useful. Emotions are not like water that goes under pressure when contained and compressed but flows freely when not contained. Unlike water, emotions do not find their own level. The whole metaphor doesn't work very well. It use to be that I ...

I pinch and pick at my hands, sometimes until they bleed. I also rub the spot in between my eyes until it's sore and sometimes the crown of my head as well. I do these things frequently. But the more serious self harm involves banging my head against something. I broke the bathroom door a few weeks ...

I have a terrible short term memory. For my long term memory, I'm good at remembering numbers and other abstract things, and I'm bad at remembering names or events.

I definitely have this problem specifically with my wife. We both have an ASD diagnosis. I either think that her statements are so dramatic that I have a hard time taking her seriously, or I take her completely literally. She says that she's very literal, but I find her speaking with an odd mixture ...

You might connect with the Asperger's Association of New England. Just Google them. They're located up in the Boston area, but they might know what's going on in NYC.

Ok are those who are taking the meds and stimulants following the rules on diet about no gluten/sugar/dairy etc? Thanks. In my case, I avoid sugar and use xylitol instead. My dairy intake consists of a splash of milk in my tea, occasional (not daily) use of butter, and even more occasional use of g...
