The one person who died from traffic when I was at school was over 14 and wasn't crossing the road (he was going along an unlit country lane at night). I crossed multiple roads every weekday to get to and from school and yet here I am. As is everyone else who did the same thing. I wonder how much e...

to whom do you address when you state “we”, yourself? No. Rather, autistic people as a whole. When I say for instance that "we are societies savants, doctors, lawyers, scientists..." and so forth, what I mean is that these field are largely comprised of autistic people (relative to number...

Who is most likely to understand a misunderstood Aspie ? Another Aspie or an NT For me? NT, without a doubt. Those who think about others a lot have always been the most understanding, and having strong communication, empathy, and people skills in general, they're definitely not autistic. This idea...

No. I don't keep it from people it's relevant to, but it is not something I just casually tell people. I know they probably can tell something's up, I've not had any bad experiences with people knowing, but I still prefer to keep these things to myself.

I'm the opposite. People have always commented on how quiet and softly spoken I am. Speaking up to a normal level (for others) sounds like I'm shouting (to me).

I'll counter it. Having some emotional empathy is not the same thing as having high emotional empathy. I think you're just nitpicking at this point... The point I was getting at is that there's a difference between an Aspie or Neurotypical who each have emotional empathy, regardless of how small, a...

I have ASD and I'm really not an empathetic person in either way. I won't notice someone subtly upset (if someone was crying their eyes out of course I'd know, but adults don't tend to do that, they'll hide their pain), and if I do know they're upset, I haven't a clue what to do about it. I don't in...

And big pharma, doctors, specialists etc etc. Pharmaceutical companies are not going to be interested in a disorder which can't be treated with any medication. There is no medication for autism. If there was really some kind of conspiracy going on they would not diagnose autism at all, they'd diagnos...

There's been so many interactions that the other person could have done nothing better, they were so incredibly patient and understanding, and I couldn't have tried any harder. Yet they're unsuccessful. I struggle with communication, many times it's solely on my end. It's not the other person's faul...
