Going to school is just as much about socialisation as learning. You need to learn to cope with the NT world as there is no other. It is not always easy, with bullying etc, but it can be done. I don't think the isolation of home schooling would help an aspie learn to cope with the outside world.

Feeling like an outsider and not being good at smalltalk is par for the course, no big deal, it comes with the territory. I think that people think we are being anti-social because they do not understand our perspective. It's not that we don't want to join in, its because we don't know how to, and a...

I heartily agree, but I would use it deliberately

If god made everything, s/he must have made him/her self.

But the question remains, how does nothing make something out of nothing using nothing.

I suppose if you, if you believe it's all irrelevant, cause nothing has to make sense.

Here in Australia, evolution is also taught as part of standard science curriculum. I and a lot of others here find it very difficult to understand the influence the Christian doctrine has on politics and the general populace. I realize the influence they have due to their ability to get people to v...

You are a total hippie. While you may not wear Birkenstocks or smell of incense, you have the soul of a hippie.
You don't trust authority, and you do as you please. You're willing to take a stand, even when what you believe isn't popular.

Yeah, fair enough, almost like being an aspie

Hopefully no dog was harmed in making the picture. Actually its all quite simple, you can't prove or disprove that god exists. So it is all a matter of opinion. So if religious nuts can express an opinion, why can't I. Can I help it if they can't tolerate any opinion that is not the same as theirs. ...

The reaction here (Australia) should be (by those rational, logical human beings); pull the other one (metaphorical leg), it plays Jingle Bells. But then, if god can create the whole universe and all its creatures in 7 days, then impregnating mary with a bit male dna so a male could be produced, wou...

I think there are problems on both sides. While dating, everyone tends to be on their best behavior, but you had then been diagnosed for about 5 years and did not think it important enough to tell her before you were married. If you are not going to open about aspergers to your soon to be wife, who ...

I found a great use for my aspie and research skills when 15 years ago my partner was diagnosed with coeliac disease. The breads, biscuits (cookies) around at the time were disgusting, and no cakes. I decided to do some research and develop our own. The gluten free breads and biscuits were based aro...

The word disease tends to mean that you are sick, unwell, and not in good health. We tend to think that if something is diseased then there is something wrong with it (generally visible as well). We also tend to associate diseases with an agent that causes it (eg bacteria, virus, parasite, etc) that...
