I wanted the validation. I wanted to feel allowed to be who I am. I know that there are people who will probably go "pfft" at this and say that you don't need permission to be who you are, but I will speculate that they grew up and continue to live in more accepting surroundings and aren't under th...

Or maybe loneliness can drive an aspie to obsess over having a connection with a person, especially if it is difficult to achieve. This has been the experience for me, probably because I can count on one hand people I have connected with. Even when you can avoid the obsession, there's always the fr...

I would've thought being attached to people in a way that one is obsessed with them, ran contrary to autism Maybe.. but what about the obsessive tendancies people on the spectrum can have? Maybe having an unhealthy obsession with someone isnt really the same as connection. Or maybe loneliness can d...

I would probably pass on the job, but if you really want it and to also protect your friend, I would demonstrate my abilities and research the topic so that all of my information is not from just these papers and to make sure to avoid discussing anything confidential. I would mention first off that...

I find it difficult during days off or holidays to get showered, dressed and outside. Even if I want to go out to walk, get some air or go to the shop, I have a hard time doing it. I think i get distracted each time i decide i'm going in the shower, either by reading or browsing websites or forgetti...

I used to wonder if I was actually invisable - if people could see me as I felt so isolated. But I think in relation to your question, from what i've read it is much more subtle in many females genrally handle social situations better and better at mimicking ect, and then I guess there is the beilef...

Thanks for your input people! I have made an appointment to see my GP. I think I am going to ask for a referal and explain the problems I am having and have experienced. I also think I will write everything down and take that along with me, which might help if I end up forgetting what I want to say ...

it's a weird one. I literally fall apart without my regular daily structure, so holidays can be difficult when I have no uni and there is nothing else planned. I can sit around in my pyjamas all day for days, reading books and websites. I also find it harder to keep my house tidy during these times ...

I sometimes sniff people I have known for a long time and a comfortable with. I like the smell of new leather, my friends would always be surprised or embarassed when we would go to a shoe shop and I would pick up the shoes to give them a good sniff |

I was wondering - do any of you have routines which you do not like? Ones you wish you could change for more positive routines, but it's really difficult? I am so messy and disorganised but I really wish I could get into a good routine. I always feel calmer and happier when I follow a plan but I hav...
