Aw, I'm sorry. I've just been reading through.

I agree about finding an independent woman with her own hobbies and interests. I've been with my spouse 9 years--most of it not knowing about AS. I think if I were a clingy-er or more needy woman, it would have ended ages ago.

@Autismus--I don't think he has any weird eating habits, but, he is extremely sensitive to different tastes. Like, I cannot substitute or leave out an ingredient without him noticing, even if it's a very small amount. When my Father in Law died 7 years ago, he didn't cry. He wrapped himself in blank...

TheMaggie, I've had some similar issues with my spouse. I used to take offense until I learned about AS--most of the stuff they do, in their mind, they are not being mean--they are being honest. They don't want to be bothered. Once I learned that, I stopped being angry at him. (Annoyed sometimes, ye...

Also--I've read this and have also noticed in real life that NT women with AS men tend to be independent but loving, nuturing types. I think that describes me--you?

@Autism Us--He has passed out. Turned dead white and gone! It was pretty awful that time. Jim does not like people touching him--sometimes he doesn't even want me touching him (usually only in public, but there's bee a couple times at home that he gets all rigid and groany). I've been with him long ...

PS--It might help to read "Journal of Best Practices" by David Finch. It was recommended to me by a friend with an Aspie husband.

She was opening accounts in his name without him knowing and we got her on fraud for both of them. Awful! Its funny how most guys would be excited about the birth of their first baby, mine is cool as a cucumber! He is really quiet in general so it will be interesting to see how he reacts in the del...

Oh, goodness, dear! Do you have any friends that you can talk to? Just because he's an ass and doesn't want you, doesn't mean that you aren't loved and that there aren't people who like you and want you around. Please don't say that he chased all your friends away. I'm going through a bit of that "f...

That is good, and it's good you know this going in. I'm learning retroactively, but I have to agree, I don't think I could be with anyone else. I feel bad for him that he was treated poorly in his marriage (and you in your relationship). And @Leafplant. It's happened. His colleagues have laughed abo...

PS--You guys have a child coming, but you've never said how long you've been together or have lived together. And, I didn't mean to sound harsh in my reply--just being honest. The more I learn about AS, the more I realize my spouse and I are actually pretty ideal for each other. Once I mourned the f...

As an NT woman married to an AS man for the last 3 1/2 years (together for 9), I can tell you there are some challenges. In fact, if it weren't for the informal AS diagnosis last summer, I would probably making arrangements to leave him. Aspergers saved my marriage because it explained his baffling ...

Speaking as an NT, this sounds like abuse. NO ONE should be calling you names, regardless of what you've done or haven't done. Though, there is a possibility that he WANTS *YOU* to break it off with him, without being the one to do so. I can't wrap my head around how anyone can be so chicken s**t, b...

Speaking as a woman who is serially attracted to Aspie-types (romantic or otherwise) and who is over 30--it is not too late! A lot of my friends are single (I'm the only married one, surprisingly), and have some pretty fun dating lives. Also--there's a lot to consider when entering a long term relat...

I don't see any way that you can get her to see sense. She's too tightly under the spell of her boyfriend. She will have to be made to feel pain. She's not going to listen to you or anyone. Pick up the pieces when she sees sense, but otherwise stay in the background. It's her life and her mindset t...
