I am not sure what kind of a problem it is, but I do know that both in terms of the responses I want when distressed as well as those that work well for other people, going to "problem solving" as a first tactic is often the wrong answer. For me when I'm on the receiving end, I dislike it because it...

Olive, I love your "rules" for photos/decor! I tend to absorb things/observe without realizing it and then suddenly end up realizing I have a really definite structured system for things like that. (Usually I realize when answering questions like this post!) I don't have many people-photos up, thoug...

I feel like too much eye contact for me makes me feel nervous (though there's no real reason to be) so every so often I'll just look to the side or up or down. Yep. This. I don't think of myself has having trouble with eye contact (and can't think of being told that I do), but I do know that I ofte...

Well, they're open to it, but they've seen my ten years of trying to get help and I think they're less sure that they'd be any better...

I've found that assumption really strange. I do think it is more what Aaronzx said, that we might have a harder time reading people's emotions and then responding to those, but when we are aware of their feelings, our capacity for empathy is the same. I would add that, just as with NTs, I see people...

Low functioning autistic girls can't hide them yet they are much less than LFA boys in numbers. Doctors and parents might not notice autistic traits in aspie girls but they would certsinly notice them in severe cases. That really discredits the "aspie girls pass under the randar" theory - unless yo...
