While we've had a couple different Star Trek characters mentioned, I'd like to put forth Odo from Deep Space Nine . He's not a genius, but he is smart as well as very rigid and logical, and has massive faults in his social skills. Might be worth checking out for you. If video games are acceptable, t...

It depends what the jokes are like. If they imply that our traits and behaviour are a bad thing or that we should be mocked for things we have no control over, then that's not cool. But if it's just humour based on the contrast between us and allistic people, or an actual autistic comedian finding t...

While it also has a downside, I kind of like the "outsider's perspective" that my autism gives me. I also think that it's boosted my sympathy and logic.

Oh, jeez. I don't really have anything helpful to offer, but best of luck dealing with the school. I took a lot of crap from my university, too, and it's awful.

Ah, the cops. Gotta love their complete disregard for human safety and comfort.

Luckily I've never really had to deal with the police; I definitely think I'd freak out and not be able to talk and get haulled into the station for being suspicious and then they'd shoot me or something.

[snipped for length] Who says I'm not? I have a lot of difficulties with a lot of stuff, but I have a psychologist and a specialist and supportive parents. I do what I can do, they do what they can do. In a few months I should be back in university. Like I said, I can do stuff if I get the right he...

While plenty of autistic people do succeed in their careers, I think a lot of us who don't succeed aren't at fault ourselves. Society isn't set up for us to work, really. For one thing, to get most jobs, you have to do an interview. What kind of people are bad at social interaction, talking about t...

Eh, they could be like my parents -- acknowledge kid is trans, make no changes in form of address.

Good luck in that pageant, though!

B.J. Hunnicutt replaced 'Trapper McIntyre, Colonel Potter replaced Henry Blake, and Major Charles WInchester replaced Frank Burns in the M*A*S*H TV series. I think all three were improvements. I agree. And also the Second Doctor on Doctor Who was better than the First. (And Eleven was better than T...

Ugh, I love musicals and I've been watching a bunch lately, since I found a masterpost of links on Tumblr. Some of my favourites are Jesus Christ Superstar, Tommy, Phantom of the Paradise, Phantom of the Opera, Little Shop of Horrors, RENT, Sweeney Todd, The Book of Mormon, Les Miserables, Aida, Wic...

Having an older Doctor however, will ween out the fake Doctor Who "OMG he's so cute." fan girls. A) The "fake geek girl" thing guys do needs to die out immediately. B) You obviously don't know much about women (or really, anyone who's attracted to men) if you don't think they're going to find Capal...

Haha, I'm wayyy too picky an eater to be made hungry by the show.

Mostly when I watch it I'm going "HANNIBAL YOU JERK". Or if I'm in an "I want representation" mood, "WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO CONFIRM WILL IS ON THE SPECTRUM".
