It seems someone put up a Flash ad of some stupid kid jumping up and down. Not only is it annoying; it's also using up bandwidth and causing my fan to start going. I found it so obnoxious that I am using Lynx to make this post.

You could use flash block if your are using firefox
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/433/
or ad block will stop flash
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865/
And to alex when he reads this do not allow flash ads end of line

You could try cleaning your laptop fan or computer fan, I do this sometimes with my laptop and since then it just runs smoothly. :)

Agreed. Not only is the ad annoying (fortunately I haven't experienced the flash problems) but I find advertising for prescription meds to be a bad idea anyway. For the meds I need, I will consult an informed physician and read nonpartial sites concerning effectiveness, not respond to an obnoxious ad. Are we due to have ads for particular surgical methods next?

Yeah, I hate Flash too. It doesn't seem to bog my machine down much though, it's just annoying. I tolerate it for sites like YouTube etc but for ads it's just unnecessary.

At least HTML 5 doesn't use up as much resources as Flash.

Maybe, but you over paid for the product.

No I didn't, I paid more than the crap products to get a good one.

I think everyone who has any experience on the matter can testify to flash sucking, much to the dismay of Adobe. Its here for a while longer until IE9 at least, since its difficult for people to move on to these new platforms until we have an acceptable degree of javascript and html5 compatibility (as well as speed).

Wish I had an iPhone currently. I have a droid and I hate it to pieces right now, cant even flick through contacts without the GUI animations staggering and the battery life totally sucks. every update verizon seems to push for the thing makes it worse.

The droid UI is definitely inferior. Its slow and not very user friendly.

As far as Android UIs go, you gotta either have stock or Sense. All other options are inferior.
