One of the funniest parts of Naked Gun 2 1/2 was when Frank kept beating up Barbara Bush, he was totally unaware of the fact that he was doing it, and everyone reacted as if she were just accident prone. At the start, he opens the door and knocks her out, then pulls the chair out for an attractive woman, then while he is eating the lobster, he cold cocks her and sends he flying over, all you see are her legs in the air. THEN at the end he kisses her, thinking she is Jane, lol

Scary Movie 3 was surprisingly funny, almost vintage Zucker. The chain-smoking Oracle and the accident-prone "Sixth Sense" boy were brilliant. :lmao:

I've noticed this too, and it's really quite sad.
Satire movies used to poke fun at how movies come across as ridiculous with their cliches, merchandising, etc. But now they've become just as bad (actually worse) than the very movies they mock, squeezing in as many fart jokes & lousy celebrity imitations as possible.
I'll take Spaceballs over Meet the Spartans any day.

Mel Brooks and the Zucker Bros. are the best.

Amen to that... Mel Brooks needs to get back into the movie business and show these lousy upstarts how it's done...

Yeah, the last movie he did was the Producers, and that was just a remake of one he did back in the 60s.

Airplane! was ridiculously funny; I could watch it multiple times and not laugh.

The best satirical stuff I've seen in recent years has been the mockumentaries by that same group of people who did This Is Spinal Tap. Let's see, they also did Waiting for Guffman (haven't seen all of it), A Mighty Wind (very funny), and Best in Show.

I haven't seen any of the current parodies, but then it's because I haven't seen most of the movies they mock, and you're right, they clearly aren't working very hard at it anyway.

Anyone ever heard of spill.com? They do movie reviews and rate them on a scale of 1-5, like this?

5 - "Better than sex!"
4 - "Full Price"
3 - "Matinee"
2 - "Rental"
1 - "Some ol' bulls**t"

Well, from what I remember they did a review of one of these spoofs... either Meet the Spartans or Disaster Movie... and they hated it so much they gave it a rating of 0... in other words, "F**K THIS!! !"

Actully, it was F--K YOU!! !!

I enjoyed Borat. Tropic Thunder was apparently also very good, from what I heard.

Ok, to briefly change the subject here, but is there a reason why HBO shows christmas movies all during the year and practically none at Christmas time itself?

Disaster Movie is (or was recently) voted the worst moie of all time on IMDB.

Brooks movies have been only OK recently. Good, breezy entertainment, but not the powerhouses like Young Frankenstein, or even the hidden gems like High Anxiety.

The problem with movies like Meet the Spartans is that they don't even really contain actual jokes. They just make random culture references and combine them with violence. No wit required.

They are all the same to me. The only satire movie I ever liked was Airplane!
