Red Lights (2011) staring Robert DeNiro, Sigourney Weaver, Cillian Murphy and Toby Jones. How do you make an awful movie with a cast like that? Well they found away. Has a horrible ending that makes no sense. Sadly another wtf did I just watch? experience.

That takes talent!

Stand By Me (1986). In this movie I learned that kids didn't have bicycles in 1959, and adult Wil Wheaton looks nothing like Richard Dreyfuss.

Riff Raff (2025)

Riff Raff Description: Hulu wrote:
Jennifer Coolidge and Ed Harris lead a stellar cast in this darkly comic crime-thriller about a quiet family weekend upended by unexpected visitors.

It is a bit of a spoiler.
Riff Raff Description: IMDB wrote:
A former criminal's ordinary life is turned upside down when his old family shows up for a long-awaited reunion.

I told Hulu I liked it, but I don't know if that's true. I did not dislike it.

The Salt Path. Quite enjoyable overall, mostly for the first two thirds. Then it drifted a bit.

Last night we watched:

Independence Day [1996]
<=>"We've always believed we weren't alone. On July 4th, we'll wish we were."

A really, really good science fiction movie! Recommended!

Sinners.

Two twin brother, African American Depression era gangsters, return home to Mississippi after spending years in Chicago, in order to start up a club for fellow African Americans with their ill gotten gains. Unknown to them, a vampire has also arrived, and is planning on crashing the grand opening in order to turn the customers and owners into vampires. Maybe the very first horror musical, complete with dance numbers, that I've ever seen!
First rate horror flick, and highly recommended.

Having just watched Independence Day [1996], last night we watched:

Independence Day: Resurgence [2016]
<=>"We had twenty years to prepare. So did they."

A good sequel but I would not recommend watching this film just by itself. It is a sequel.

...and I don't think it was as good as the first movie. I think they tried to cram too much into it. I think it would've been better if the sequel material had been spread across two three movies.

But it is still worth watching.

Companion [2025]
<=>"Find someone made just for you."

If you could have an obedient "emotional support" robot would you tell your friends it was a robot?

Would you tell it?

The Alto Knights.

Robert De Niro plays duo roles as Frank Costello and Vito Genovese, two mob crime bosses who had started out as boyhood friends, risen in the ranks of organized crime together, and ended up blood enemies.
I know this movie did badly at the boxoffice, but I thought it was a decent gangster flick.

Rifftrax: King of Kong Island (2014)

Riffed by Matthew J. Elliott and Ian Potter. Very funny.

One of my favorite quips was something about all the talking that goes on. Then they reminisced about the silent movie days and how all that talking didn't go on then. Also, the Rifftrax guys had to smuggle in their own projector and project the riffs over the film being shown.

There are "gorillas" in the film, but never a Kong.

Shark Attack 1,2,3,4.

The first two are surprising good like Deep Blue Sea.
Third one is a great laugh as the megalodon shark swallows a raft full of people in one bite.
Fourth is ok.

The Green Fairy.

Dramatized documentary about the origin of absinthe, the legendary alcohol beverage that began life as medicine and became a popular drink. Examined is the hysteria around absinthe causing hallucinations and even homicide(!), to the point where wine producers even joined with prohibitionists to ban the drink. Absinthe drinkers of note, such as Van Gogh and Oscar Wilde (played unexpectedly by the late Rowdy Roddy Piper - - yes, that Rowdy Roddy Piper!) are showcased.
No, it isn't a perfect movie or documentary by any means, but it's enjoyable. Plus viewers get to see Roddy Piper, to whom the movie is dedicated to, in his final role as the great Oscar Wilde.

Last night we watched:

Lost in Space [1998]
<=>"Danger Will Robinson!"

If you enjoyed the original 1965–1968 TV series then you will likely enjoy this movie.

• This movie is respectful of the original TV series
• This movie has guest appearances by many of the cast members of the original series
• This movie is better science fiction than the original series
