Last night we watched:

Demonic [2021]
>=>"It's Not a Dream, It's Not Reality"
Filmed secretly in Canada over the course of the Covid-19 pandemic.

I knew it had a low IMDb user rating of 4.2. I would likely've not bothered with the movie except:

>=>=>=>=>=>It was written and directed by Neill Blomkamp.

Prior to Demonic he's only directed three other feature-length movies: District 9 [2009], Elysium [2013], and Chappie [2015]. That is an astonishingly good credential! Two of those films are among my favorite Science Fiction films (and I admit the third is also good). Because of this, and only because of this, I decided I wanted to see Demonic despite the likelihood it might not be too good.

Well, more than anything else it is a horror movie. And even though it was very well done I think it sort of the felt like a good B-movie. My bride liked it. I think it was OK...I did not regret watching it but cannot recommend it—unless you like B-movie horror films.

One of the best sci/fi-horror movies, in my opinion.

I want to see that one.

Me too.

This Gun For Hire (1942)

Yet another 'Film Noir' starring Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake. It's rated pretty highly by the punters on IMDB, but once again I find it hard to get into this sort of thing. It's pretty contrived and confusing stuff, and being an American film of this era, it features a lot of people going round shooting at each other. Ho hum....

Agreed. Now I want to go watch it again.

The Gangster, the Cop, and the Devil.
Watched it at like 2am because I couldn't sleep and saw Ma Dong Seok was in it. It was decent, not my favorite of his movies though.

I'm surprised in regards to my mom managing to sit through the entirely of the movie,
especially parts which she believed the kids had nothing better to do than mock each other.

Last night I watched:

Go West [1940]
>=>"JUMP INTO YOUR BOOTS AND SADDLES...IT'S ROUND-UP TIME IN THE WILD AND WOOLY WEST! "
With Groucho, Chico, and Harpo Marx.

Sigh. Much to my surprise: Not recommended.

The Marx Brothers are very, very talented...but I don't think they worked in a Western.

I took a class on film noir years ago at uni.

Last night we watched:

Total Recall [1990]
>=>"How would you know if someone stole your mind?"
The one with Schwarzenegger.

A good Science-Fiction flick.

This morning I watched a little bit of it again...there was something I couldn't recall.

Some of the stuff at the end of the movie looks wrong...inconsistent with what would really happen. I finally reconciled myself with this by concluding that everything after he got into the memory implantation machine must be implanted fabricated memory.
