The Million Eyes of Sumuru (1967)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061976

A fun farcical movie dealing with the Battle of the Sexes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jt3IIkLd2pw

The age-old combat between the Feminists and the Patriarchs.

In the end....

...the Patriarchs win the day!

Anyway, I enjoyed it. It might not be everyone's cup of tea--the IMDB rating is abysmal.

And, the ladies get to objectify Frankie Avalon. 8)

Nothing that recent, but me and my boyfriend plan to see Furiosa at the imax maybe next weekend so that should be pretty good I'd hope compared to fury road. which we were worried that Fury Road was it for mad max till we saw the preview for Furiosa when we went to see kingdom of the planet of the apes(it is quite the mouthfull). They also had a way too loud preview for a new rendition of Twister with tornado cowboys which I can say for certain we do not want to see.

*OMG I am an idiot...so we saw kingdom of the planet of the apes most recently and are hoping to also see Furiosa in the imax. And well Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes was pretty freaking good I like how they incorporated eagles in that last battle scene, but yeah what a mouthful lol.

I saw Furiosa. It was good fun. About 30 minutes too long imo but that's my opinion of most movies. Definitely a 'see at the cinema' movie.

Yeah, I think me and my boyfriend will go for the IMAX for it that is a bit more expensive but we're only going to see it in the theater once. So why not see it in the best way available plus imax always has seating to where short people like me can see as the next level of audience is far enough below no ones head is getting in your way. Idk its really the only way to see a movie nowdays since well even my T.V has pretty good picture so for a lot of movies we do just wait till it comes on a streaming service. We just figured it would be cool to see some mad max action on a big imax screen as neither of us have seen any mad max content in a theater before.

Uhh there were so many times growing up I had to constantly adust myself to see bits of theater movies and just accept I would only get a bit because there were always taller people sitting in front of me It was very frusterating when trying to see star wars episode 1 to where I could not see everything...at least imax does not have that issue no matter what size you are...you can see the film as the seats are set up to where no ones head will ever be blocking you unless they are like 9 feet tall.

I've always thought of that as Lovecraft's The Color Out Of Space with chicks.
What's your verdict?

Sumuru (2003)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338470/

Nowhere near as entertaining as The Million Eyes of Sumuru (1967), mentioned above.

An excellent sci-fi horror film. Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Oscar Isaac were all great as was Alex Garland's direction. Garland also wrote the script.

I concur, as I compared it to Lovecraft.

Personally, I agree the story concepts in Annihilation [2018] and Color Out of Space [2019] seemed related but I think I would've characterized the difference differently. I thought the former was science fiction, like The Outer Limits [1963–1965], and the latter was more horror/fantasy, like The Twilight Zone [1959–1964].

I agree another difference was Annihilation blew through the Bechdel test the same way Einstein might've blown through an astrophysics test, but I think Annihilation made that look incidental...they didn't dwell on it or rely on it in the story.

P.S. I liked both movies but slightly more so Annihilation—not because of gender issues but rather because it was more science fiction than fantasy.

P.P.S. Both are worth watching.

Last night, because of the good posts I've seen about it on WP, we watched:

The Accountant [2016]
<=>"Do you like puzzles?"

Well, here is another good post about it.

We both liked it!
- She likes crime shows so it was a good fit for her
- It resonated with me because I'm a "High-Functioning" Autistic know that is not an official term

We both were amused by how much The Accountant's suburban home resembled how my home looked the first time she visited. (I liked it that way! She couldn't believe anyone could live like that.)

As a youth The Accountant took martial arts training. Good idea! If I had my youth might have been more pleasant.

However, if I could speak to The Accountant, I would recommend a change. He had three utensils in his kitchen (a spoon, a fork, and a table knife) and kept them neatly spaced in a drawer. Inefficient! I had more than three of each...and therefore did not have to run the dishwasher as often. And, in reality, you can't just lay them out neatly in a drawer because they will slide around...you need a small kitchen utensil drawer organizer.

Very definitely YES R E C O M M E N D E D ! YES

The cast and crew list in the IMDb entry for the movie says they had FIVE Autism consultants. All five have excellent credentials for working with Autistic patients...but, I saw no indication that any of them were Autistic (so, no Alex).

P.S. Apparently there a sequel in the works! We'll want that in our collection, too.

Loved it! Especially toward the end when Vader slaughters a group of rebels.

Last night we watched:

Sasquatch Sunset [2024]

:-| It is difficult to know what to say about this movie

The copy of the movie we watched was in English...but... That means the movie title is shown in English, the written text in the pre-show ad scenes are in English, the labels in the end-credits are in English. And the one-word title preceding each part of the movie is in English. English is not spoken in the movie; the actors do not talk at all.

I can tell you the word "sunset" in the movie title is not talking about a literal evening. It is being figurative. The future for the Sasquatch did not look bright.

It was not difficult to pay attention to the movie.

Is it a good movie? I guess that depends upon who is watching it.
