Last night we watched:

Repo Man [1984]
<=>"A repo man is always intense... but only a fool gets killed for a car."

Oh, so definitely boring NOT Recommended boring

IMDb suggested it to me based upon what it had observed of me.

I got my bride to watch it with me.

Oh, so definitely :-? Now I think I owe her a good movie.

One of the funniest movies I've ever seen!

Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus (2009) on Comet TV

Well...
Um.
They were both big. Very big. The shark could easily chomp down on a four story apartment building. How the apartment building gets out to sea to test this I'll leave to the CGI people.

The octopus was also very large. Did you know an octopus is very intelligent? Problem solving intelligent with good spatial understanding. This one was, for the lack of a better word, big. Maybe three or four blocks long? How long is a block? I'll leave that up to the CGI people as well. It depends on the ruler they are using and if it is standardized.

Do you know who Debbie Gibson is? I was aware of her in the 1980s.

Wikipedia: Debbie Gibson wrote:
Gibson released her debut album Out of the Blue (1987) at age 16, writing and largely producing the material.
I did not know she was so young. I was aware of her. I don't recall hearing any of her music.
Deborah Gibson is in this movie. She plays Emma MacNeil

Emma MacNeil: Oh, my God. I thought I imagined that.
Seiji Shimada: Definitely a shark. Megalodon. And his friend here.
Lamar Sanders: Same as the drawing.
Seiji Shimada: I suspected...
Emma MacNeil: What, a giant squid?
Seiji Shimada, Lamar Sanders: Octopus.

I'm not going to criticize this film, much. Mostly because no Mega Shark Versus Crocosaurus is on. Am I going to comment on the CGI? No. I'm sure they did the very best they could do with what they had.

Trivia: most frequent sounds I made while watching these: "Gah...", "Hhhh...", "Wha...?", and something resembling an amused laugh.

Would I watch them again? Probably yes.

Ten Tall Men

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0044110/

Even with Burt Lancaster, definitely over-rated.

Watched on TUBI TV, starting this morning.

Scariest Monsters in the World (2023)
10 (plus) creatures/monsters presented and discussed by several individuals, who are not listed in IMDB. I find that peculiar. Cannot really complain. It was interesting. However, they sometimes presented folklore as fact and played loose with logic. One person actually said "so called science" denied something did not exist because there is not evidence that it exists. There were ten creatures, but they also included more that were not on the official countdown list. It was entertaining, although as much as I would like to believe somethings, saying something exists because I want to believe it exist. Also, presenting a hypothetical situation and it magically goes from being hypothetical to being treated as fact.
It was a tubi original documentary.

Cheap Thrills: Those Drive-In Horror Flicks (2022)
Film clips from forty-seven horror films. I don't recall hearing any narrative, except for the beginning where a brief history and explanation of the documentary. It was essentially the beginning of a clip, with the film's title at the bottom of the screen followed by more clips from the movie. I enjoyed it. It reminded me of when I was 14 and I found a book that was all, or mostly, pictures of horror films. Some of the films have been on MST3K or Rifftrax.

The 50 Best Horror Movies You've Never Seen (2014)
I enjoyed this. Again, several people discussing each film.
I enjoyed learning trivia about one film.
Black Christmas (1974) was the first film for two things.
Number 1 - It was said to be the first slasher film, predating Halloween by four years. John Carpenter was a fan of the film it's use of the point of view of the killer.
Number 2 - It was the first movie to use the line "The call is coming from within the house! Get out!"
A third piece of trivia was it was directed by Bob Clark. Nine years later, Bob Clark would direct his other Christmas film, A Christmas Story.

The 50 Worst Movies Ever Made (2004)
I did not really enjoy this.
It had promise, but the script's writer took a very condescending tone with the films, the actors, and directors. Too bad Jim Backus wasn't still alive. He could have read the script as Thurston Howell III. He had the attitude in his voice that would have fit the script. That's all I'm going to say about that. The script writer really got under my skin.

The Horror of It All (1983)
Narrated by José Ferrer. Watched on Tubi TV.
A overview of the horror and fantasy films, from silent films through the following decades till, maybe, the seventies. The evolution of the periods are discussed. Because it was made in 1983, there was not much hindsight for the seventies, except slasher films had taken the imagination out of the viewing experience.

One thing I enjoyed was listening to people where are alive during these periods. Roger Corman, John Carradine, Robert Bloch, Rouben Mamoulian (director of Fredrick March's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde). Gloria Stuart, who was in James Whale's The Old Dark House and The Invisible Man, talks about those days, and a bit about Boris Karloff and James Whale. She also plays Old Rose in Titanic. First hand memories are getting fewer and more rare these days as the people that were there or experience those films are passing away. Of the people I've list, none are alive today.

The image quality of the films is not that great. In 1983, restoring horror films was not paramount on many minds. I think the advent of DVD and Blu-Rays have made restoration more lucrative.

Last night we watched:

Mars Express [2023]
<=>"Programmed to live"
Made in France but with both a French and an English soundtrack. We listened to the English version.
It is animated so I'm unclear whether what we watched was "dubbed" or just an alternate version.

W O W ! W O W ! W O W ! W O W ! W O W ! W O W !

W O W ! ! W O W ! ! W O W ! !B E A U T I F U L !

W O W ! ! W O W ! ![/color]R E C O M M E N D E DW O W !

This movie is animated Science Fiction. The Science Fiction is good.
Synthetics/androids/robots are common...second class citizens...not happy.

The movie's sounds and visuals, however, are BEAUTIFUL!

Last night we watched:

Enter the Drag Dragon [2023]
<=>"Never Cross a Cross-Dresser!"

I didn't know much about this film when I bought it. I just thought it would entertain my bride.

The movie had barely started when Lloyd Kaufman made a guest appearance. All of a sudden we both had a better feel for what to expect.

We were both entertained by the film. Which did not even try to be high quality.

P.S. Despite Lloyd Kaufman's appearance in this film, it apparently is not a Troma film. But, it sure felt like one!

P.P.S. Oh! It is good, stupid, fun!!

Attack of the Herbals [2011]
<=>"Putting the tea back in terror."

Sort of a zombie kind of flick.

It's OK.
