When African slaves were brought to America, they found there was no tradition of the spider in America, so they turned the spider into the rabbit. Thus, tales of Brer Rabbit were born.

The c**t that I am, I just skipped through the whole vid with the sound on mute just to check if there were any rabbits in it, to then use the famous "I knew there were going to rabbits in this cartoon before I even opened the thread" quote.
