Site Communication Problems

During the last few days, I have been receiving errors intermittently when I try to enter information into the site. The display indicates:

SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Too many connections [1040]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.

Unfortunately everyone on WP will receive those errors.
Alex has been made aware but as yet there is no fix.
