The option to use a classic theme on the new site would be nice.

It is all the clutter and green and blue junk I am guessing made the old site run so slow and buggy.

In fairness the logo at the top of the screen still had the old blue and green and in the topic review while posting a message the buttons are green while the other posts appear blue.

The old colors are still there is a much more tasteful manner.

I dont need no stinkin mobile.

I am happy to wait until I get home, and to light up the pilot light on my cast iron antique gas powered desktop computer, and access WP from that.

But that's neither here, nor there.

Do like one thing- in my own E-mail, and on every social website Ive been on you can "save a draft"- except for one place-here on WP. But now you can save a draft without posting it here on WP as well-finnally.

yeah- I think I'm starting to settle in and to like this new fangled look.

Just posted this on my phone the new site really is mobile friendly.

The whole page frames correctly on my Galaxy S4 well done alex.

Also there are less steps to get straight onto the forum. :D

Really?

The site may be different, but it does load faster, and has so far shown no tendency to be 'buggy' or 'glitchy'.

I, for one, am grateful to Alex for his efforts. He could have abandoned this site (and its hassles) long ago, and left its domain name to be snatched up by Those Who Couldn't Care Less, but he didn't.

Now we all get to explore our new "Home" together.

Enjoy!

Change is good for growth. We will need to change with it.

For the most part, I really like it. I'm afraid it may be too bright though when so many have sensitive eyes. My eyes aren't especially sensitive but even for me staring at all that white is a bit much. I like the font better. I think adding back the good old Blue & Green would be the finishing touch to this slick new look and feel!

For those of us homesick for the good ol' Blue & Green, I snapped a couple of pictures before The Change:

I like the baby blue background color they chose, but wish they'd add back that fertile, Wrong Planet green :ninja:

Wow, I snapped a couple of screenshots too, before it was too late! Thanks for a wonderful trip down memory lane!

The good old green and blue were much nicer to look at. I liked that color scheme so much better. I honestly think it lost a bit of its personality with the new colors.

The brightness isn't a problem for me, but according to posts in several threads here it is for quite a few others. That's not good on a forum for a group of people where many have sensory issues.

I'm still in love with the avatar size though! :D

I really appreciate the new look and the upgrades but as other said, the color contrast is too much for me. I have to spend much less time here now or I get a headache. So maybe that's a good thing. I loved the soft colors of the old site. I don't know how to change the colors and theme from a user end. Maybe someone can tell me how to do that. Otherwise, so far I am fine with it. I also like the addition of the report button. I guess that is to report a post to a mod or something.

But even just reading this thread and posting this post is a a bit much for me so I have to get off now.

My blown up fuzzy snow bunny hurts my eyes. But at least I can see her pink nose.

So other than the visual sensory stress overload, I am quite fine with the changes and I appreciate the team making efforts to bring us up to speed. Thanks for the screen shots Skil. That post should be a sticky so that we can always remember how it looked. :D

Yeah, that's a nice improvement, and the new emoticons are acceptable.

I have been through many forum changes over the years, and I am anticipating that I will follow the same process I always do:

1. I open up the "new" forum and immediately feel anxious, and worry that I will not be able to adapt. I feel overwhelmed and want the "old" back, even though I am usually one of the people who wants the "old" gone in order to reap the benefits of the improvements.

2. I try to use the site, and I feel like my anxiety is being proven true. It takes me a while to figure out how to do what I want to do. Things that used to seem easy, now seem either laborious or confusing. I consider whether or not I want to stay.

3. I stay. I slowly learn what I need to learn to adapt.

4. I become accustomed to the "new" format and would never consider going back to the "old" one.

My understanding is that even some typically wired people go through this (although usually the time span between 1 and 4 is much quicker). Change, in general, is not easy. But just because something isn't easy doesn't mean you can't do it.

I can think of at least 2 forums I left completely when they changed. But the changes were much more drastic that what I see here. I will stick it out, get used to it, and grow to embrace it. But for the record, I am not loving the color scheme of this one, either.

To get your avi back to its original size, all you have to do is re-select it from WP's local gallery in the 'edit avatar' section.

You can see this demonstrated in my present avatar, which I will change soon enough.

In technical terms, what started out as a low-res image has now been scaled to a larger size. Scaled larger, you can now see the sharp edges of each individual pixel that makes up the image....your icon is kind of hurting my eyes too, my snow bunny friend! :P

Thank you so much. I will try to do that when I get back. I have to go now though. I have some errands to do now. But thanks again.
