everyone groups up in their pairs and then i'm the only one left...my teacher announced a dreaded group project/report and tomorrow we're grouping up. i'm scared to see who's going to be left over.

I can identify with you on that. I always dreaded group projects where you have to choose your partner becuase I have a hard time approaching people.

Yeah unless there's someone I'm friendly with in the class, I just wait until everybody else has formed their groups.

I did a calc test with a partner, it was at the last minute. Boy did I regret it, the girl I paired up made it feel as if I was married to her. I wouldn't mind it, but she was already married to somebody else!

They didn't have group work when I was in school or even college. But I went back to night school at 45yo and guess what? Groups! Groups for everything. And the prof goofs off for as much as an hour per class while we students sit around in groups and discuss! Is this education? The blind leading the blind? For this I gave up my hard-earned money? Not to mention sharing term papers. It's insane!

I get so riled up over groups!

I very much identify with you guys on groups. Having to go up to someone and ask if they wanna group, having to discuss ideas with them...

But I hate groups because I'm usually the only one motivated enough to do the work so I end up doing all of it.. so yeah, I try not to take too much interest when I end up in groups now v_v

Yeah, I never liked group work. I always wait until someone asks me over or the teacher just places me in a group. I always just liked working on my own.

thankfully none of my classes require group projects. but then again I love working with groups. most sci labs that I do have a partner and I usually work with my Ra's roommate's girfriend. She's really sweet....and she's a Senior........in a 100 lvl class.

in high school I hated group projects, probably becaues I hated the projects...........dats a different sotry.

There are a couple of major flaws with group projects. Firstly, one person usually ends up doing all of the work. Secondly, people do not listen to each other. It is also stupid for your own grade to rely on the work of other people.

I totally agree with this statement. I think every group is as strong as it's weakest member and unfortunately there can be a lot of weak members in some groups. I hate group projects and usually wait til everyone has picked their groups or until someone approaches me to join a group.

It was said that a corporation was a creative way to make no one responsible, likewise for most group projects. I wised up to that, and promised them a free A if they just didn't interfere while I did the work. Otherwise, it would just be more work for me in the end fixing what they broke.

Rrrrrr I hate group projects. Thankfully I don't have to do many now, and when I do, they're with friends who will do an equal amount of work.

Exactly.

I remember having to do a research peper in a group about Germany back in seventh grade and ending up doing all the work. There is the rare case, though, in which the dynamics of a group work near-perfectly... but those are exceptions to the rule.

Then there's the social dynamic of group work. I hate having to pick groups, especially in situations in which I have no social connection with anyone in the class. Again, there are exceptions to the rule in some situations, but they are rare.

or the teacher just places me in a group

God, I remember this happening all the time in eighth and ninth grade, and to a smaller extent in tenth grade, in those traditional situations where I was the last man standing. It almost pains me to think about what the rest of the class thought about me...

I hated group projects. All of the drawbacks everyone mentioned are major pet peeves with me, too.

group projects are the most incredible hippie BS ever "lets hold hands and work together so we can learn how to work with people like we will in the real world"

well, dang, as far as I know in the real world I will never be gluing parts of magazine pages to a big piece of paper with the five people sitting closest to me

in hell, maybe, in the real world, certainly not
