Are we supposed to have everything sorted before 30?

Everyone leads their own life. Just cos two people take different paths doesn't mean one is wrong and one is right. If your path takes you where you where you want to go, your life is working.

But you have to know what YOU like, and what YOU want, and where YOU want to go.

Relying on "the world" to tell you or show you who or what you should be, doesn't work. You'll just end up trying to be a thousand different things, cos people want a thousand different things, and are a thousand different things. It's impossible to be all of them. And it's meaningless to do any of them, unless they mean something to YOU.

As with most of your questions, the root lies in what YOU want in life. Answer that first, instead of trying to find happiness in what others do, or in things you think you're "supposed to" be doing.

People who seem to have everything sorted out, especially at an early age, usually had things handed to them or thrust upon them, and that person simply accepted it w/o question. It's not what they wanted, it's not what they worked for, it's just what fell in their lap.

I'm divorced, no kids, don't care, don't care what society says. Did what I could in life, that's enough for me. I think people that have lots of money and time on their hands, let them be the ones to have the children, they can afford it and have time to deal with the situation. As for me, I had to work for a living, and it has not been easy.

I'd also bring up the idea that just because someone has everything sorted at some point before thirty, it doesn't mean their s**t remains sorted. Sometimes they suffer a catastrophic setback domestically, or with their career, or a major legal issue, or whatever.

Everyone who has their stuff sorted out only really has it sorted out for now.

Before 30: unemployed, uneducated, had anxiety, depression and stress from having no job and pressured to get one whilst being in debt

After 30: dead end job, still depressed, stuck living with parents, always thinking of how to escape

Will see what the new year will bring

It was an out-dated expectation of my parent's generation that one should at least have most - if not all - of their affairs in order around that age.

I'll may not be the first - and doubt I'll be the last - to tell you that regardless of age, there are people who have their crap together and those who don't. There are people in their 40s/50s/60s/even 70s and beyond who THINK they have their stuff sorted only to find that no one ever stops learning and growing until they stop trying to.

And with newer, younger generations - and the economy seeing just how deep in the sewer it can tank, it's unlikely anyone will be able to afford to have their affairs in order by age 30 (even later).
