It should be ok as long as it's not an actual job. I'm just going around the neighborhood to clean people's yards to make like $50 or $20 or so in cash for doing it.
My brother sometimes pays me that way to clean his house, but I can't drive to his house on my own. So i figure it'll be more lucrative to make money in my own neighborhood.
It should be ok if you're just doing it here and there for a little extra cash. But if you were to start making more consistent income with it then it would be best to report the income even if it is cash.
That said if you were interested in actually getting like a part time job, then you could always try to go through voc rehab and try and get them to set you up with an employment service thing. Voc rehab itself will give you a counseler but they just recommend typical stuff if you really need 'help' you can get into programs for work adjustment and such. That is what I did, and as for the SSI they will deduct some but the money you end up making will make up for it.
But if you're not ready for all that it shouldn't be an issue to make a little extra cash, so long as its not an actual income.
