Has anyone ever had a job or worked so many hours that you just become a human robot and lose every trace of social hope you were clinging on to? This spring, I made an odd "comeback" in my very weak and lame love and relational life. I met alot of girls, more in 2 months than I did in in my whole life! Then I started a job and the hours started building up. For most of this summer I have averaged 55 hours a week. I have found it really hard to even bother doing laundry and dishes so making and even talking to existing friends has been really difficult. Now I'm getting a layoff until spring and will be making more on employment insurance than when I did at my last job! Maybe it's a chance to live again :S I mean...I've let my hair grow and haven't bought any new clothes since last year so it's really bad! Has this ever happened to anyone else?

:S

Well, I don't have a social life and don't want one, but I tend to get overly involved in jobs and forget most everything else . . . it is really bad - and every job I get I say I'm not going to do it and I do . . .

I'm sorry to hear about that!

I hope things turn around for you soon!

By the way, it's good to hear from you!

Any job where you have to work more than 40 hours a week is not worth it.

Jobs aren't supposed to be fun. That's why they're called jobs, after the Old Testament character who suffered a lot.

>>after the Old Testament character who suffered a lot<<

Is that a fact? Very interesting, I had no idea

He's probably kidding, but I'm not sure. "Job" could actually be short for "Job's post", which means something like "living hell".

If it was a joke, it was a particularly apt one.

A little while ago I ended up doing 12 days in a row, and in the last 7 of those days I did just over 69 hours. This was mainly on the Monday and Tuesday - I worked short(ish) days over the weekend so I could wash some clothes and buy food, then got into work on 09:15 Monday and worked continuously right round until 18:35 on Tuesday. This was to finish a piece of work which should have been completed by the Monday morning, and which I'd been given to start about 2 weeks too late.

I didn't feel too bad, considering.

Never got a bloody "thank you" for it, though, so next time they can shove it. And if anyone complains I shall point out that weaknesses in the managerial process are simply NOT my problem.

The job is really steamrolling me towards my overall goal though. In a couple years I should have my first apartment building. I just live on maybe 1/5 of what I make and pile the rest up. All in all, I'm not slaving for crappy pay and my dream is finally becomming reality.

I get paid a reasonable sum, although I can't afford to save much. But I'm fed up with the way people get treated, so I'm leaving soon. I have been made an offer I can't refuse :)
