@OP I think that you are being taken advantage of by your wife.
I think that you are an absolutely lovely man
and that, because of anxiety, need to please, desire to avoid conflict, fear of being viewed as selfish, etc...., your wife has the upper hand(it may well be unconsciously).
You deserve to be truly heard and respected, you too have needs and they matter every bit as much as hers...you keep trying to please her, and yet you're slipping into depression from the terrible strain this is placing on you. You try and try but it's never enough!
I hope you find your way, I truly do. We often live out the patterns hoisted upon us during our childhoods, in our marriages.
