The bizarre cult classic Sacrifice is brilliant for many reasons, but one of the most important has to be its terrific setting and voice acting. Watch this intro, and see if you can spot which character is voiced by Tim Curry!

Also, which of the five gods would you choose to ally yourself with? One of my favourite things about Sacrifice is that instead of a silly "good or evil" system, you tend to find yourself drawn to one of the five gods on the basis of more interesting things like personality and politics. The god who seems to represent "good" is revealed to be an overzealous busybody, and the god who seems to represent "evil" is revealed to be a likeable pragmatist whose bark is worse than his bite. They are each charming in a certain way and repulsive in a certain way. And you can change your allegiance during the game, so you have time for each of them to grow on you.

A bit slow in some of the early parts, and I apologize for this particular video being a bit dark (you don't really get Visari's expression the way you do on a tv), but it's pretty epic, very few games can present this sort of thing well but they did it.

My favorite intro is from Donkey Kong Country released for the SNES back in 1994. It consists of Cranky Kong sitting atop one of the platforms from the original Donkey Kong game turning the handle on the record machine playing the original Donkey Kong theme when all of the sudden Donkey jumps in with a boombox and the theme gets a a new hip twist and Donkey starts dancing.
