We all have heard of T.V. shows that have "Jumped the Shark," or moments in shows that have ruined the series or television itself, so I have come up with a saying similar to that, but for video games. That saying is "Phoned Home," and it is based off of the infamous E.T. video game for the Atari 2600, the game that caused the domino effect that killed the video game franchise in the early 80's (Thankfully Nintendo saved it). So in your opinion, what game or games ruined their series's or the gaming franchise itself? What games Phoned Home? In my opinion it was...

Sonic: Sorry fan boys and fan girls, but I have to say that the Sonic series Phoned Home when Sonic 3D Blast was released. The game had horrible controls, and got rid of the speed element that made the first five Sonic games such commercial and critical successes. Although I enjoyed Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, they weren't nearly as good as their first five predecessors. Ever since 3D Blast, the reputation of the Sonic series was never the same.

I know there are many more games that have Phoned Home, but I haven't played them, and I probably won't be able to. If you've played any games that have "Phoned Home," please list them here.

Pac-Man for Atari 2600

According to legend, a ton of Pac-Man carts are buried in the same landfill as ET.

I just thought of another.

Mega Man: The Mega Man series Phoned Home when Capcom created WAY TOO MANY SPIN OFFS! They're just not as good as the original series or the X series (and even that ended up sucking after a few games). Plus, Battle Network and Star Force didn't do the series any justice at all. Although I'm not much of a Mega Man fan myself, I was able to tell when this unfortunate game series Phoned Home.

Animal Crossing Wii. It has one or two nice new features, but that's it!
