About to dive into eve online Final fantasy XIV or Star trek
Torn between the three and looking for people who want to enlist with me and form a partnership. Any takers!

I've played all 3. FF is my favorite. Star Trek has such potential (I played it in beta, as a subscriber and when it went FTP), but since it went FTP it's pretty pay to win and microtransaction based. EVE is a great game, just not for me. Many of my friends are very into it though and a couple of them now work for CCP Games in Georgia.
I suggest you go with FF! Just personal opinion though
Ah but I need scifi ^_^ ff was just for some childhood nostalgia. Ff 10 moved me to tears literally when I played it at 12-13

Eve Online, be aware of what you're getting into with that one if you should decide to try it.
It's an interesting game, but there is no such thing as an MMO that has a slower pace than that one. I'm not exaggerating when I say that at least half of your time with the game is likely to be spent staring at it while your ship automatically makes the many hyperspace leaps necessary to travel from any one location to another. And these arent short little 2 minute trips, either. The further you have to go in one jaunt, the longer they take..... and the game world is BEYOND enormous.
Dont expect much in the way of excitement with this one. Hell, there are ships that are designed JUST to haul stuff from one place to another.... that's not a sort of gameplay usually seen in, well, anything.
In all honesty, if you're looking for a good sci-fi MMO..... be prepared to keep looking, lol. There arent many of them, and what few there are have..... often not been very good, or they were good but went under, or they are good but are also downright ancient at this point (like Anarchy Online). That's not to say that Eve isnt good, though again..... yeah, look into that one further before trying it.
Oh, and as for FF, *dont* play that one and expect it to be even remotely close to BEING remotely close to what the main FF series is. Neither it, nor FF XI before it play ANYTHING like those. The only things they have in common is that various spells will be familiar to you, and some classic enemies such as Marlboros (however that's spelled) or Bombs or whatever will appear. Other than that..... well, it could seriously have been made by a totally different and entirely unrelated developer, that's how far away from the main series it is.
And the Star Trek one, honestly, didnt turn out that well, by my opinion anyway.
There seems to be a lot of EVE bashing here. Having played it a couple of months I think it's a great game but it must be played with friends to get your full enjoyment from it. The game definitely isn't for everyone, but the thing is with the game if you can think of it you more than likely can do it. Though the game is very deep, you can never learn everything and it's physically impossible to learn every skill in the game. Last time I heard anything it takes in total of ten years real time to learn everything.
If you are genuinely wanting to start up look up Scott Manley; Kenscrazygaming; Johnnypew and Markeedragon on youtube, they have plenty of videos on eve and general beginners stuff, Markee more than the others though as it takes you through him learning the game as well.
I've been playing EvE for a few years and have 6 characters over 2 accounts currently active.
Agreed, the learning curve is extremely steep, the myth is that it would take more than a decade of 24/7 play to learn the game in total.
To counter the view that the game is slow, it depends on how you choose to play the game. For example, my main character is in a mega-corp (RvB) that specialises in PvP (player versus player) battles that are fast and furious (and great fun). In support of my corp another alt of mine heads a separate haulage company that keeps the supply chain open, whilst another is a manufacturer.
Because EvE is a sandbox it is literally up to you how you play, you chose your areas of interest and invest time either as a solo player or as part of a corp.
As an aspie EvE satisfies my need for 'distant' social interaction, allows me to control how and when as well as who. You'll be surprised by how many aspies play EvE for that reason. The game is great fun and challenging with enough expansive untouched play left to continue making it a joy to explore.
The other great thing about EvE is that it is a single shard game which means wherever you are in the world you can play with/against anyone anywhere. This has led to me having 'friends' in many other countries and a wide mix of ages.

Eve sounds like a dream come true. I started trek online which is currently playing out legends of romulus. I passed out from exhaustion in the middle of trainig butt he first thing tht struck me was how few races there were and how there are no character rpg elements. How is eve in terms of plot?

EvE is a sandbox, so has no plot per se. It does have a rich story line of how the races came to be and the reasons they are not that fond of each other
However, most of us cross train once we are settled so that we can fly anything that's lying around, which is useful in our massive free for all fights where ships are from all races.
Some players get deeply involved in the character they have and its historical roles, with EvE the game is what you want it to be.
