Final Fantasy: "How do you manage all those characters?"

Once, when I was playing FF6 and showing my mum, she asked me, "Which character is you?"

I was like, "What?"

She asked again, "Which character do you control?" pointing at the 4 characters lined up.

"All of them," I replied.

"Wow! You can control all 4 of those characters?" she said in amazement.

"Um, yeah."

"How on earth can you do it? Oh, this kid's got ADHD! Ha! Give the kid a console and they'll never fail to amaze!" she said.

"Um..."

Maybe she thought you were controlling all of them at once instead of taking turns. It's really no more complicated than games like chess or checkers that have multiple pieces, and lots of people play those, too.

Reminds me of the classic "Are you winning?" question often uttered by those that know nothing about gaming.
