I was wondering since there are some who hate America and its history and wish for it to be obliterated due to the fact America doesn't take kindly to whats going on in the middle east? I admit America does have a dark past but over time has gotten better and is more open to all walks of life compared to the past and is a multiracial, multicultural nation.

A small part of me wonders if the socialist nanny police state that we're evolving into can be force-fed simply so that its failed economic paradigm will collapse and can be swept away all the more quickly, and laissez-faire capitalism reinstalled.

I think America has no business in the middle east and should stay out of their problems. america has its own problem and should not be blowing trillions of dollars on country's across the globe while there are americans starving and homeless

Hell no! The US may have its problems, but I would never wish for it to be destroyed. On the contrary, as a Canadian I actually feel a great kinship with the US and its citizens. Sure, we have our differences, and we playfully banter about one another, but ultimately, as far as countries go, we're like brothers. I used to be on the "America sucks" bandwagon back when I was younger and more immature, but that was before I actually went there, and discovered how much I liked it and its people. I mean, given the choice of living in either the US or Canada, I would still choose Canada as my primary residence, but I wouldn't have a problem with having a vacation house in the US.

Now, just because I like the US as a country, doesn't mean I like its government. On the contrary, I think their government is a disaster, but so do most of the people who live there. It also disturbs me just how much power big corporations have there, but it's not like we don't have that problem up here either...

I voted for the first option, but I wouldn't stop at 'America' until it included 'the whole world'....so I had no other option.

When you turn on the TV or read anything, it's like 'money this...' 'investment that'...'save money doing whatever'...'up to 10% off' (already mega expensive items).

They say 'money talks' but I didn't know it spoke to the total exclusion of everything else out there. I just happen to be totally deaf to this language.

Humanity has totally shot itself in the foot and are now whining because they cannot walk...

Nuke the whole lot of 'em, I say.

One of the ways in which corruptionists deflect criticism of themselves is by invoking nationalism, i.e, "if you criticise the evil s**t that I do, then you are attacking america". The OP should stop blindly accepting Pentagon PR.

The US is just an expression of the capitalist economic system we are all tied to. I would see this system destroyed and replaced with one that put need in front of profit, then we might see changes.

Out of all the superpowers that have ever been, the US is the least imperialistic.

I have enjoyed a lot of unnecessary comforts from growing up in a middle class family in a first world country. Part of me wants to answer that I would want all first world countries destroyed but then I think twice. I've never known anything else. I'm dependent on a lot of things that I disagree with strongly. I'm just a lazy hedonist. If I weren't such a lazy, immature, spoiled, 1st world problems baby I'd probably be more comfortable saying I wish for the destruction of first world countries. Maybe I just need to die. If I had this attitude in less fortunate circumstances I would be dead already.

We're rather too much into "policing the world." But I love my country---not necessarily how it's governed, at times.

We give middle east oil exporters worthless pieces of paper called 'US Treasuries', and they give us their oil.

"Oil exporters" are the 5th largest foreign holder of our debt in 2014

So, yes, we need to be there, to protect this beneficial exchange.

We're not without our issues. I can't see these issues being changed for the better in the foreseeable future because, due to politics, we could never agree on what needs fixed or how to fix them. Global policing? Sure, we can stop that but if we do it ends all global policing and intervention.

The abstraction; "America" is intertwined with the state. I therefore have no loyalty to it.

In another twenty years or less America is going to become China's whore anyway, so the question is irrelevant.

Not true. The american empire is privatised, not state owned. If you take into account America's cultural spread and the extent to which american companies have involvement in the economic affairs of other countries, the US is easilly the most imperialistic.

If America were destroyed, what would take it's place? I can't see Americans living any other way but American.
