What are the chances that this global recession said to be worst than the Great Depression could lead to another world war?

Slim to none.

I think that when everyone's either threatened by an unknown illness or stuck in front of a screen, war is kind of a forgone conclusion. This is actually as dangerous as a number of nuclear conflict scenarios so in a way, we're lucky it's boring.

I was more worried about a freak solar flare OR WWIII than I was about an epidemic, but then I'm a software nut, not a biologist.

War's been a threat throughout human history immemorial but I think people will be less trigger happy after realizing they could be destroyed by an invisible virus. Fat lot of good bullets & missiles will do for everybody when we're all open-sourcing ventilator plans.

Also, world war 3 is more a bunch of proxy wars than anything else, nation states make it into a bid for control of the developing world more than some ultimately destructive end-all be-all of wars. There's no profit in mutually assured destruction.

if this turns out to be public info about chinas hand in this stuff , things could be far worse than now.

Whatever, I still say it can happen.

I think if you want a model for future Great Power conflicts the the Cold War is the least unlikely historical one: two rivals unable to directly attack each other due to mutually assured destruction engaged in a series of proxy wars across much of the globe.

[Musing bit] thinking of global conflicts: I’ve come across the name “Second Hundred Years War” used to describe the series of conflicts within which Britain and France vied to be top empire in the C18th (That would be the wars of Spanish Succession, Austrian Succession, Seven Years & American Revolutionary), then there are the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars: also Great Power conflicts fought across multiple continents.
So thinking of “Global Conflict” instead of “World War”, there have been five:
• Second Hundred Years War 1701-84
• First Great War* 1792-1815
• Second Great War/WW1 1914-18
• WW2 1939-46
• The Cold War 1947-91

*The Great War is what it was called at the time.[/musing]

When I was a small child, I sat at the knee of my great grandparents as they told me all about what their lives had been like...from The Spanish Flu to the Roaring 20s to Prohibition to The Great Depression to World War 1&2 to McCarthyism, to the Bay of Pigs to the assassination of JFK to Vietnam...I loved listening to all those stories and I remember them all...just as they had related them to me and I noticed a pattern.

I asked "how do you know when the "Commies" are gonna invade?" They said that three things will happen...first, the country will close off borders with the rest of the world. Second, public gatherings and meetings will be banned & third, there will be Martial Law".

That stuck with me... throughout my life I can still hear those words in my ears.

I asked them "what leads up to a war?"

They said that the economy goes to s**t, there is massive unemployment, states are divided against the federal government, you can't even give oil and gold away and the military starts doing "secret" maneuvers in Europe.

World War 3 is a cyber war which started back in 2012..the fighting is done "behind the scenes" in an epic simulation that has real world consequences..just like how this virus and it's spread was first calculated virtually before being applied in real time.

Some may (and have) called me a "conspiracy theorist" but over the past month or so, that label fails to be an insult anymore because it is now viewed as being a tool of the censorship propaganda machine rather than being an admonishment for a "deluded" individual.

Will we have a World War 3 soon? Like bombs and tanks and stuff? I doubt it, but I am not totally ruling out the possibility either.

Unless someone is precognitive nobody knows what is going to happen before it occurs
