The Abrahmic God has a dark side, indeed. And we'd be fools to deny it. This dark side is what we call Satan or the Devil.
Okay. That just isn’t in agreement with the Christian theology I’m familiar with. I was always tought that God is all good / benevolent. Satan is supposedly an aberration from God’s will, a fallen angel, i.e. not part of God at all. Not saying that your theology is wrong. It might actually be more in line with the original beliefs than modern Christianity is. According to some verses in the bible god did create evil.

If it's an advantage for a mystic tradition to be nontheistic, it's one of preference. Whatever you're most comfortable with is inherently an advantage. But there's more to religion than mysticism. And mysticism isn't without its shortcomings.
Most mystic traditions aren’t nontheistic. They’re mostly dualist. They have a creator deity but the creation was never intended to be perfect. Evil and suffering are not considered aberrations but essential parts of the universal order. This just seems more in line with nature to me. I’m still an atheist though.

I don't think it's productive to have this defeatist attitude while comparing world religions. If mysticism is the way for you, go ahead and follow that path. I have been a Buddhist myself, and while I relished certain aspects of buddha-dharma, it felt awkward for me not to have someone to pray to. You're mistaken in your belief that monotheists don't have a mystic element to their worship.
I never said any of that.
