attacking Iran at this point is the worst possible course of action, there will be a revolution in Iran against the Ayatollah, he is finished. The only way he could retain any sort of legitimacy is if someone attacked Iran, say, Israel. That would be a catastrophic and ridiculous foregin policy...oh, ok, I nearly forgot about the last decade.
and yes the US is a threat, unlike islam it has both the means and the will (as with Islam in the 'is islam a threat' thread I refer to those in power and not the people). leading upto the second world war the US was involved in approximately 1.2 military conflicts every year, after WW2 that rose to 2.1.
One of the few positives of the recession is that it will severely restrict the scope of operations of the US government, "n number of million unemployed and you want to invade countries x, y and z? have you seen the bill for Iraq???? get a grip mr president!!" And Obama is just a nice face for slightly smarter imperial policies.
Ok I really need to know where you're getting these numbers from. 2.1 million conflicts? Do you mean shots being fired in central america and a us military advisor being stationed a few miles away? I can't imagine the US even affording 2.1 million conflicts unless someone took the most spurriously correlated circumstances, called them conflicts and found a way to connect those dots to the US. What source did you get this from?
