This is a dumb useless article. I could replace the word liberal in that list with conservative and it would be equally valid. Liberals don't have a monopoly on arrogance, athiesm or misery and many of the most vocal conservatives are reactionary, not traditional.

And for the past few days I thought this thread had for sure sunk into oblivion. But then you came along and showed interest in keeping it alive.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! :D

You know Raptor, I don't think one can generalize. There are pretty decent people of all political persuasions. For instance, you are an animal welfare volunteer, which is highly commendable. I'm sure you get both conservatives and liberals in animal volunteer work, and maybe even a few communists and whatever.
I don't think one's political outlook really determines what they are like as a person, except if they're extremist.
My mom and stepfather are extremely conservative but very decent people. However, many of them are not - they're openly bigoted, mean-spirited and petty. But some liberals can also be, if they believe they are better than others.

Here in SA the situation seems rather different to that in the US. We have extremists on both sides, namely folk who have refused to adapt to the changed circumstances in our country, and on the other hand, corruption and "reverse racism" abound, with people going too far in their obsession with blaming the past for everything, instead of moving forward as one nation.

Do you have the same issue with liberals that generalize like that about conservatives? Well, either way it's not above me or below me to do the same over generalizing about liberals.

To be honest, I never ask and much prefer to keep politics completely out of it. Besides, most of what I do there is directly with dogs which I prefer.

Pretty much the same with me. I'm politically right wing but closer to moderate. Far right wingers that I know think I'm too liberal but they are, infact, extremists. Then there is the extreme left.

I've never been able to figure mine out. Both democrats but with constantly shifting values.

I have to admit I don't follow SA politics very close;y. However, as you know, we went though our own rather long apartheid era and are still to some extent struggling with it even though it's in the past by nearly a half century. There really is no implementable fix for it other than time......

And what's this thing about thunder? You've asked me about that before and it doesn't make any sense.

I'll tell you, :D you will either laugh your ass off or get really pissed, depends on how thin skinned you are.
I came home from school whining about some insignificant BS,my foster dad is on the couch,he asks me if I heard it thunder this morning.I looked at him and replied in the typical teenage girl snotty voice,"no."
His reply."Well ,you haven't pulled your head out of your ass yet."
Surprised you never heard this,he was Master Sargent AF.

So-called rightwingers(populist conservatives as opposed to civilized elitist conservatives) are some of the most butthurt, resentful, and belligerant people you will ever meet. Their "common sense" and traditional values have been wholey ineffective tools for advancing themselves in society so they use liberals as a scapegoat for not getting what they want.

"butthurt" ? I'm sure that word used to be used an awful lot by a former banned member of WP. Now who could that possibly be?

It's a common internet phrase for resentful.

Interesting that you should bring up the use of the term "butthurt". At one time I would have thought it might be trollish to use but then one of our esteemed moderators used it. Since surely no WP moderator would ever practice trollery or go against the terms of use, I took this person's casual use of the term to license myself to use it more frequently.

That being the case, maybe you should consider this as an avatar:

Well done on completely missing both the context and the point, Raptor. Top effort.
Still, you did manage to use "troll" in a post so... mission accomplished, I guess.
