I hadn't even noticed that. Good point. Although they were both probably 'prepped' ahead of time so that masks wouldn't be needed. Only educated speculation, but Trump probably wouldn't have done this if he had to wear a mask.

I think people still support Trump because there is only one other person to pick from in the election and he seems worse, so I guess you might as well pick the less worse person?

They're both bad but there is something about Biden where I fear him more. It's hard to explain but he seems really out of it, like he is too old and is going to keel over at any moment, or just does not seem all there.

I was a bit rebellious on social media for a bit about letting people know what the president has done(or didn’t do). Then last week, my uncle commented some pro Trump arguments on a couple of my Facebooks. And, they weren’t necessarily bad.

It amazes and confuses me how some sound so convincing with their arguments and the other side sounds convincing about their arguments as well. I actually reached out to my uncle a few days ago about my frustration with how divided the country is, and that I wish that we had a president that we could all agree on and not “one side thinks he’s the best president ever and the other side thinks he’s evil”. He agreed with me on that, told me some reasons why he votes republican and said that despite what everyone says about the president they’re gonna vote against, that we’ll be ok regardless of who wins the election. I must brag, I’m proud of myself for finding a way to understand a Trump supporter. I mean, I never wanted to be mad at someone in my own family anyway.

I’m probably still gonna vote for Biden this year because he’s who I’m comfortable voting for, but I’m not as frustrated and confused at Trump supporters as I was when I made this thread.

There are people who are loyal to him, because he claims to represent their values and best interests. So there will always be those supporters, regardless of what people are saying against him. The majority of people in certain regions only see him as their advocate and they have no choice but to support him. He has convinced them he is doing good by them and they're worried to see him taken out of office. He's a Republican and there will always be Republicans who support the Republican in office, because there is a script in place for that. Something to remember is that the president is only one person, and there's a lot more that goes into running a country...he's a leader, not a dictator. Who the president is can make quite a difference, but it's not the be-all/end-all of government. There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes and when people say "Trump" did this or that, often it's really not him alone deciding on it. It's policy/politics with many hands in the pot.

Biden (Democrats) are seen as sympathetic to mobs (rioting).

This is supposedly the reason Biden is slipping in polling.

The mobs are reportedly protesting for leftist causes like anti-police brutality, anti-white privilege, anti-racism, pro-black lives matter ....

Oh okay, but when it comes to police brutality, and anti-racism, I thought that the right did not like those either though.

I mean I never considered myselft left, but I don't like police brutality or racism either.

The left don't like it and focus on\highlight the race of the victim.
The right don't like it and focus on the actual cause, disregarding the race of the victim.

The riots have all been race related, hence association with the left.

Oh okay. For me it's been a case by case basis. For example, wether the George Floyd incident was race related, I am not sure. I know that the killer knew Floyd from his past, but not sure if his beef with Floyd was race related, but that is just be coming at it from a more centrist point of view.

But if the left is looking at it more from a race point of view, why is that?

From what I can tell, the left look for the "sympathy" from people to gain support, so any inter-racial interaction is seen by them as "racist" if the person of their preferred race doesn't "win" in the exchange.

From the right's point of view, they look at whether there was a problem with the interaction, ignoring the races of the people being involved in it as being irrelevent as to whether the actions taken were "good" or "bad".

Oh okay. Well I guess I look at it as a case by case by basis, but what would that make me when it comes to right or left?

Centrist, probably.

There's no need to try and jump on one side or the other. It's best just to be your own person, making your own choices around your beliefs\values, rather than feeling you need to pick one team and support them, whether they uphold your beliefs\values or not.

Oh okay thanks, I was told I was centrist once before. But why do so many people feel they have to be extreme left or extreme right? Isn't centrist, the best of both worlds, because you see the pros to pick, and the cons to reject?
