I'm not sure why Atheists would want to display their banner among religious banners, unless they just want to piss off the nonsecular. Doesn't seem like a good way to spread the message.

Yeah, I could help by designing a flag with nothing on it, to reflect their beliefs. Or maybe they could just use a mirror as their flag, although it would be a little difficult to carry into battle, especially on horseback.

I thought Atheism wasn't a religion?

The city hall shouldn't endorse religion by allowing nativity scenes.

But if the city hall wants to allow nativity scenes then they have to allow all sorts of holiday traditions and not just Christian, unless they hate the 1st amendment, of course.

If they allow Christians to push their beliefs in the city hall, I see no reason why the atheists are being evil by placing a group picture with the banner in their meeting place.

I have run out of patience to answer this stupid question ever again.

Are they endorsing a religion when they have multiple religions represented. Is it all or none? They aren't decorating the building with symbols of belief, they are symbols of religion. For Atheists to want to put their banner next to baby Jesus, wouldn't they have to be a religion? I have never seen a display that represents my beliefs, and I don't care that they don't.

I understand there is supposed to be separation of church and state, but the government doesn't always adhere to there own rules a lot. Isn't there more important things they aren't respecting very well besides some stupid decorations that were made in China?

Have a neutral usurped-pagan fertility festival arbitrary period of time thing.

I think that if some people get to spread a message about Christianity using a public area, then I should get to use that area to display or promote whatever it is I'M into. I could display a life-size, lighted sculpture of Han Solo frozen in carbonite, for example. If some citizens are allowed to decorate a public space then EVERY citizen should get to decorate it. :D

We have something in common, although somewhat opposite in nature.

I see no need for a war against Christmas. That time of year is completely irrelevant to me; no different to any other time of year. Nothing special, just a holiday with a name attached to it. Didn't some bloke die on Christmas day? Or was he born, I forget which... what was his name again... Ah yes, Hans Solo.

Maybe a flash mob of atheists would get your cause going. Maybe something like "Occupy Christmas", see how many people can squeeze into the photo with Santa area at the mall....

I hope you're not too lonely...with your big War on Christmas there. I have this coupon for a free Big Mac if you want it, something for the troops.

I'm more of an agnostic these days than an atheist, but even when I was an atheist I still celebrated Christmas. Presents, pretty lights, parties and good food? Yes, please.

Well, Christmas is actually a Pagan-origined holiday. If I'm not mistaking, wiccans and other neopagans already do something similar, by calling it differently. :D

Indeed.

I'm an atheist but I still celebrate Christmas because it's a nice opportunity to be happy about something for once.
