Perhaps we're using different definitions of 'homophobia', mine requires more than simply opposing gay marriage for any reason whatsoever.

So does mine. As a result, I'm generally less concerned about secular opponents to gay marriage than those who base their opposition on religious beliefs.

After all, secular opponents wouldn't be inclined to cite Leviticus 20:13 (Christianity) or Sunan Abu-Dawood 38/4447 (Islam) calling for the death penalty for homosexuality. Not even Stalin would go that far. Hell, even Hitler didn't call for the outright extermination of homosexuals.

So it seems rather counter-productive to consider religious opposition to homosexuality as an an exemption from the label of homophobia, when the most extreme anti-homosexual beliefs are based on religion.

When you oppose gay marriage based on your religious beliefs (or for any other reason) you are infringing on the freedoms of others. You can believe that gay marriage is an abomination without forcing that belief on other people. Restricting other people based on your personal beliefs alone is bigotry. Not even religion justifies a law against gay marriage. Nothing does.

Opposing gay marriage is homophobic. Supporting it even though you believe it's an abomination because you know your beliefs shouldn't infringe upon others is a huge step up from that.

• If you’re critical of environmental fanaticism you want to destroy the environment and are probably in bed with oil companies
• If you didn’t vote for Obama or are critical of his administration it’s only because you’re a racist
• If you’re against ACA you’re want people to die in the streets
• If you’re at all critical of public assistance or question some people’s apparent abuse of it you want people to die in the streets

4) Liberals aren't very religious: They claim to be against all religion but hammer on Christianity the most. The ones that claim to be Christian often go to a certain church known to be charitable only to supplement their public assistance income. Seen it happen IRL enough.

5) Liberalism encourages arrogance: On this one I can’t honestly say that liberals lead the way. They are an arrogant lot but so are conservatives. I’ve been an arrogant prick on occasion and enjoyed it immensely..

The fact that you don't read any philosophy. history or political theory is problematic. It means that you are likely to be getting your political paradigms mainly from marketing/ PR. In a democratic society, interest groups champion their agenda by cultivating the consent of the public. Much of the media is devoted to inculcating certain attitudes into the public on behalf of some interest group.

Gee, I must be quite ignorant if I don't read ANY philosophy. history or political theory. I guess me being that ignorant licenses me to say just about ANYTHING and you'd have no grounds to challenge me on it since I'm too dumb to be accountable or even to know WTF I'm talking about. Any criticism would therefor be an attack on the mentally handicapped.

Most interest groups can be categorized in one of these two:
1) One that assumes the public is clueless and has to be shown the light
2) The other that tells the clueless public that the other interest group is full of s**t.

Not entirely unlike interest groups themselves but what do I know, philosophically and historically ignorant as I am.

I am not trying to be condescending.

By interest group, I mean a group of people with common aims.

All of our attitudes come from somewhere. We should reflect on where they actually come from, what their purpose is, and who they serve.

Unhappy - Well, I do get grumpy or blue from time to time. Especially from being aware of what's happening to ordinary and poor people.
Don't care about tradition - Actually, I'm very fond of Christmas and the Fourth of July, and celebrate them every year.
Anyone who disagrees with liberals are evil - No, but to be sure, racists and homophobes, as well as free marketeers who advocate leaving people without hope of a safety net when business leaves them high and dry certainly do fit that definition.
As for liberals not being religious - I actually go to church every Sunday, and take my Lutheran faith very seriously. While I personally do know liberals who are atheists, I also know many liberals who are believers, and whose political faith is motivated by their religious faith.
Encouraging arrogance - As I told Brock Lesnar, it's sometimes hard not regard someone advocating racism, homophobia, and social hardheartedness (I included that, didn't I?) with anything but contempt.

Condescension can be very rewarding in a twisted sense but only if it leaves the condescendee in a state of butthurt. :P

Yeah, I know what they are and some of them can be quite obnoxiously vocal and dogmatic.

Attitudes and opinions are formed from several sources including life experiences. According to you, this can be my only source except for maybe conservative talk radio and Fox news since I know absolutely nothing of philosophy, history or political theory.

And?.....

The name of the person in the video is not mentioned or displayed.
So if somehow this person and their opinion are linked to the article, are we to assume that:
- Raptor is using this thread that he started as an indirect means of spreading homophobia?
- Liberals should be allowed to post post countless anti-conservative threads but conservatives shouldn't be allowed to post anti-liberal threads?
- Raptor is doing this solely for the purpose of trolling? Something no liberal has ever done.

Inquiring minds sort of want to know.....

What we see day to day, the effects of policy, is the result of decision making whose true rationale we usually have to investigate to become privy to,. The part that you are preoccupied with; the conservative values part, is the marketing of those decisions. The msm usually doesn't tell us the true why, nor will you tend to find it by going to tribalist blogs based around left/ right values based mud-slinging..

Well, if you have to resort to an extremely homophobic source to support your US conservative criticism against US liberals, then which of your 3 options seems most obvious to you?

Hes in it for the lulz we all have our moments like that one time Raptors Idol Bill Oreily got called a homo and Oreily had a childish fit like in this vid! Homophobia is rather rampant in Fox News and the majority of the conservative community anyway.
