Oddly enough, the war on drugs, whether meant to be or not is actually a scapegoat. The percentage of drug users has never changed at all from the time when it was all legal, and Coca-Cola was good. I had a friend that just recently died from an overdose of perscription meds. Most drugs for people actually might as well be a placebo. The real users are going to find a way to get a fix regardless of anything. It is the natural way of things for some people. O.k. ALOT of people. Cannabinoids being the only one I have heard of that is impossible to overdose on. Due to the fact that there is up to 32 different ones in any one dose. If there is too many, one cancelles itself out from the other. People don't die from cannibinoid overdoses. To even put cannibinoids in the OP with overdosed meds is a conundrum. Or a farse.

I agree that its a scapegoat. Alot of politicians are also not willing to sacrifice their position by suggesting legalisation. I wonder whether legalisation is more profitable for the government than prohibition. Prohibition seems to be all loss financially.

Money laundering (preferably into the NYSE) can only be legally done by banks, corporations, and government. At least that is what I have heard from conspiracy theorist know it alls. The sale of legal drugs being in the top 5 largest money makers. I thnk it's #2. This does not include street resale. You do the math. Legal mary jane will restructure this nation. Not just for getting high. It is cheaper, and more productive to build houses, cars, boats, rope, clothing, shingles, paper, bla, bla, bla. It is a scary evolutionary change for money, and power.

Ooh. One more thing. The medical industry really does not like it, because you can grow it, it doesn't work properly in a pill wich is there money game for just about everything. And they don't know how to properly regulate it other that the fact that you know when you have had enough, and you just stop smoking it? Wich is in fact true. Basically screwing there whole "game". Strike three, your out!

That's great news I would have thought that people using opioids and cannabis together would be more likely to od so that would even out the figures. Cannabis addiction is serious but I think most people will agree that it is nowhere near as life wrecking as a crack habit

Or alcoholism for that matter.

Oh, and here is another recent study, with the self-explanatory title "Couples' Marijuana Use Is Inversely Related to Their Intimate Partner Violence Over the First 9 Years of Marriage":

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25134048
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 141134.htm

So it would seem that marijuana use reduces the risk of domestic violence, too...

The war on drugs is feel-good measure that is part of too many politicians platforms that their constituents actually insist on. To me it is an unwinnable war. Whenever there is a demand for something there will be a supply, legal or not.

While it wouldn't change the conclusion, I would take issue with the term "medical marijuana." California's medical marijuana license is extremely easy to get, and very few people with one have any serious health problem. I've heard the same thing about Colorado's original law. (Dispensery clerks didn't even know how to answer medical questions, but knew a lot about the mood-altering properties of their products.)

Minnesota is the only state that I'm aware of that has a (sort of) real medical-use law, but the dispensaries aren't open yet.

You say: "... California's medical marijuana license is extremely easy to get, and very few people with one have any serious health problem."

Would you be so kind as to post the source of "...very few people with one have any serious health problem?" Was this in a medical journal? Or were these more fantastic numbers somehow "conjured up" by a law enforcement agency? I'm guessing the latter.

The important thing, as far as I'm concerned, is that sick people get their medicine.

It certainly is more profitable for the prison guards union. They contribute vast sums of money, far more than anyone else, and back much legislation designed to send more and more people to prison AND to keep them there for a longer time. It puts money directly in the union's (and guard's) pockets. Talk about a conflict of interest.

I have a prison guard for a neighbor. He wants it legal just like most everyone who knows what is going on. It is not a problem. It is the best drug out there for a habitual drug user. What I mean by drug user is something like this. Ever notice that a smoker can be in prison for 15 years. Completely away from the drug nicotine. The first thing he craves when he gets out is nicotine, and he lights up. It is NOT the drug. It is the person. These things cannot be made to change. You take away all the drugs in the world, people will resort to things under the kitchen sink. They will make their own. This war on drugs. This definition of drugs is a corruption of human society. A complete conundrum. A riddle. It is a waste. An un-understandable truth created by the ones who believe they are drug free. They lie to themselves, and believe they are better than others while they stand idly by in a balroom full of friends drinking alcohol, and smoking cigars. It is sick.

This is a problem in the UK and it is not legal, it is less likely to be a problem after legalization IMO. This is something associated with criminal gangs. Legit trader are not goign to risk being shut down.

Of course it will still happen. But first ensure they are paying utilities. Secondly mange your property properly, put deposit in escrow linked to legal tribunal, do inventory/inspection before/after tenancy. Thirdly ensure you tenancy agreement is legal sound and effective. Finally screen tennant get references including from their employers, get identity information.

People who commit crime look for landlords also renting on the sly.

That is a relatively small problem that can be fixed, and made better. Like manditory grow rooms. Besides, do the ways really justify the means? Meaning like not using more wind power because it is an eye sore, and kills a few birds? If you want to make up a reason to screw up a good thing, you will find one.
