Actually, this guy - despite countless of other candidates - can probably now claim the elusive title as the "Best Troll Ever", as his shenanigans came close to dismantling the US government.

It's certainly not the 'liberals' who voted for Biden that's for damn sure.

I do wonder if those who took great joy in "owning" the liberals ever considered the long-term consequences of their actions.  I mean, if they had spent less effort on "owning" and more effort on "converting", would Mr. Biden still have won the election?  We will never know.

What we can learn from their loss is that "owning" the opposition (e.g., humiliating, insulting, annoying, or asserting dominance over the opposition) is no way to convince the opposition into coming over to your side.

Sadly, the use of facts, reason, and educated assumptions was an exercise in futility on the part of the liberals to convert their opposition to the winning side.

I think the wrong people have been worrying about 'bubbles' for the last 4 years.

These far right people and the absolute wokescold types (who will be offended by absolutely everything because they forget that the real world exists...) haven't bothered to communicate with anyone else.

The slightly woke types (ie genuinely trying not to offend minorities) and the centrists and the generic left have been panicking about 'how do we reach out'.

If these people want us to take them seriously, they need to take a step back from this stuff.

Part of the issue is for certain NTs to stop being 'very online' after covid is over. And for people who are really ill to get off the internet.

This plus the ableist language involved is why I'm not happy with Vaush's plan to keep 'owning' these people & laughing at them.

Edginess should be left to teenagers who are too young to vote and to political comedy shows. It shouldn't replace serious debate between adults/politicians.

What about owning the conservs? Making stuff up to make them fall for it like they did with Q'Anan.

While "Turnabout is fair play" is a valid statement, it is not necessarily an ethical one.  "We" won because "we" stuck closer to the truth and were skeptical of the opposition's claims, especially when those claims originated from one specific source.  "We" need to keep to this same strategy, or risk falling to the level of the opposition.

Anyone remember that episode in Hey Arnold when he and his friend Gerald try to do a Halloween prank on his family. They set up a fake radio announcement on the roof and do a fake breaking news report about aliens landing and they had the water tower decorated to make it look like a space ship and had it be lit up by one of their friends.

But instead the signal got picked up by a radio station and they fell for it and started broadcasting it and then other people heard and then the whole area was in panic. Then Helga and Phoebe and their classmates who happened to be aliens for Halloween were being chased by an angry mob. Arnold tries to tell everyone there were no aliens and it was all a hoax but no one listens. Only people who listened was his grandfather.

No one knew it was all a hoax until they busted the water tower.

My how I had no idea people were this stupid in real life. I thought this was only on TV but gee you have to wonder where the creators get these ideas.

And we are supposed to be the emotional and illogical ones and lack critical thinking.
