Quote:
It's received wisdom here that all the economic problems in the European Union and, in particular, the shambles of the eurozone is all caused by the Anglo-Saxon capital markets and therefore they must be attacked, and that's what the Financial Transaction Tax is really all about and it says two things to me:

Firstly, this unilateral approach on Financial Transaction Tax, on Global Warming policy, on all of these things, is rendering Europe to be the low-growth economic disaster zone of the world. This is a self-inflicted wound! These countries that are doing it are damaging their ability to do business.

And the second thing it tells me, even though the British Government sensibly are not going along with this, the very fact this was proposed and over two-thirds of the tax would have been raised from the City of London tells me we shouldn't be in this club at all. It was put in place to damage financial markets and, in particular, to damage Britain. It's a bad idea for us and it's a bad idea for you too.

It is no different than Obama saying let's gang up on the rich.

Make the rich, the demons and eventually the fall guys for foolishness which the government has perpetrated.

I'm betting you'd be a Farageist/Hannanist if you lived here.

I have no idea what that means. I am not familiar with the ins and outs of European politics. As far as I can see there is only one major nation on the continent that has any reasonable governance and that is Germany. Britain has its moments of sanity. Fortunately M. Thatcher came along and was in long enough to break the death grip that the Labourites had on the throat of the British Economy.

It means that you'd probably support the generally libertarian views of, say, Daniel Hannan or Nigel Farage. Google them - especially Daniel Hannan.

Agreed, whatever you think of his policies, the man knows how to dress.

I am the only one who looked at his facial expression in the frame the unplayed Youtube video displayed, with his suit, and though 1930's mafia stereotype.

The German word schuld can mean both sin and debt.

As a Brit, I admire the German's for keeping their manufacturing base and not becoming overly dependent on financial services.
