If Trump wins, a coup isn't impossible here in the U.S.

 Voters must stop Trump before the military has to.

LOL -- yes, the Left is desperately hoping that if Trump wins, Obama will stage a coup and become President for Life.

I wouldn't sweat it; Clinton will win both the popular and electoral college vote. Even if that human Cheeto with a dead orangatang stapled to his head is seen as the next messiah in red state America, the rest of us are still the majority.

Then he can implement shariah and turn USA into an Islamic state. It's Ann Coulter's worst nightmare come to fruition 8)

Not to mention that one could state that most of those who need to do the street work and fighting in a coup would vote for Trump So if there was a coup attempt against Trump it would probably fail even more then the coup-attempt against de Gaulle.

From perusing many military forums with various views, there's much more support for Trump than Hillary [and Obama] there in the US military.

The dislike for Obama is striking, incidentally.

I doubt the author did any research into the matter, other than seeing the failed Turkey one (which happens periodically in that country), and thought to apply it to the US.

I've heard interviews with military and CIA officers who say they will never carry out his outlandish commands.

What outlandish demands are those? Things every president in your lifetime are guilty of?

Things such as renewing torture, and killing the families of terrorists.

Like I said, every president in your lifetime is guilty of these things. You don't think the US tortures? What do you think happens when they decide to vaporize someone in their home via drone strike? Half the time it's not even the right guy, it seems quite often that it's a school/hospital/a wedding/whatever.

That wouldn't surprise me; no doubt they'd change their tune when they're ordered to, though. Really, attacking US citizens on US soil is pretty much what it'd take to cause backlash and reasonable people refusing to follow orders.

There's always fans for whatever party in high places; it's usually what gets them there in the first place.

Looking at the lower rungs is a better qualifier for this reason IMO. I'm sure opinions are divided there depending on the cross section you're studying, but I haven't seen anything that talks about violent revolt.

Usually, it's the support people feel that makes them prefer one candidate over another.

I've long suspected that. I first had that thought when during the shrub administration, one employee where I worked overheard another worker criticizing shrub, and this employee angrily confronted the other fella and said "HEY (expletive), we live in BUSH country now, and you better play by the rules, he runs this country now."
