according to this logic, every sperm cell is a human. should we persecute men who masturbate then? according to you, they are committing genocide on a massive scale.

No, sperm cells would not be human according to that logic because sperm cells do not meet the seven requirements of life. Pay attention.

Abortion debate aside, how is the billboard helping???

If pro-life activists really want to help reduce abortions, they should promote an array of support programs for the moms and babies. Unfortunately, more often than not, the same folks who vote pro-life are the same folks who want rip away any safety net that might be in place such as WIC, healthcare, headstart, etc. Save the fetus, screw the child.

And I still don't see what race has to do with any of this.

I see a level of cultural bias. People assume life is more dangerous for blacks because of crime statistics. In a sense they are using this crime statistic, to make the point about abortion. The stigma is already there in our culture. Amplifying it with the abortion issue is stabbing a hard working, honest, African American, twice. Not only is the billboard a useless means of reducing abortions, it is an indictment on the behavior of all African Americans. Ask an African American, and they would probably see it as a racist billboard.

Could you imagine a billboard with a picture of a male African American child that said there is a 1 in 3 chance that a male African American child will see jailtime in his lifetime. The indictment on crime among blacks is in the other billboard; it is not as clear.

I would rather have a life of suffering, neglect, poverty, and abuse and parents who never wanted me than no life at all. I find it alarming that someone can point at another human being and say "that person's life is not worth living", especially an aspie, given that their are people who believe our lives are not worth living. The only person who has any business determining wether or not a life is worth living is the person who's life it is. Not the mother. Not the father. Not friends, family, or government. the person themselves. period.

We're talking about parental responsibility not eugenics - there's a world of difference between the idea that some people have of disabled people having a life not worth living, and a life where a person is suffering. Parents should not bring into this world a child who will not be cared for, this is why we have family planning, parental responsibility starts LONG before a child is born.

Ye can say that abortion doesn't involving the killing of children, but that is your opinion, not fact. Your opinion at what constitutes a child. If ye want some facts, here are some: Life, as defined by the science of biology begins at conception. At conception, the embryo as human DNA. That scientifically speaking, makes it a human. The embryo has not at this point violated any legal, religious, or philosophical rules or laws and is thus, innocent. (with the exception of some interpretations of original sin but then original sin isn't in the bible and most pro-choice people I've met have been atheists so I'm not sure anyone here will even care) To argue abortion means that you are fine with an innocent human being killed. If you are fine with that, fine. But I'm not, and neither are a lot of people

No that's not opinion, that is fact - embryonic cells aren't a human being.
Please state your sources on these 'facts' of yours. To argue abortion means that I am fine with protecting the rights and quality of life of the parents and potential child, that I do not believe a child or its parents should have to suffer. If you are fine with the suffering of other people, fine, but I'm not and neither are a lot of people.

Judging by the fact that you are laughing, I'm guessing you don't know much about biology. The seven requirements of life is basic stuff.

1. It is made of cells
2. It maintains homeostasis
3. It has a metabolism
4. It grows
5. It adapts to it's environment
6. It responds to stimuli
7. It is capable, or is a member of a species that is capable of reproduction.

Don't forget women for menstruating or women for using birth control, emergency contraception, menstrual management, women who use natural methods to induce miscarriage (grey area within the church, interesting little loophole there), or if current legal issues in the US are anything to go by we also have to include women who miscarry in this.

so you've just contradicted your earlier statement.

also, being alive does not equal being a human. get your logic straight.

If the parents do not want the child that is what orphanages are for.

You can call it "parental responsibility" if you like, but you are point to a human life (and it is a human life. It is alive and human) and saying "that life is not worth living". You do not have the right to make that decision. You can claim you are supporting the rights of the mother, but you are, in supporting these "rights" denying a human of the most fundamental of rights: the right to live.

and who said anything about killing a plant being the same as killing a human?

you've just reinforced my pro-choice stance

anyway, I don't give a f**k about sweet little aborted babies, I am the owner of my uterus and I have every intention of doing as I please with it. women always have and always will perform abortions on unwanted foetuses, whether you like it or not. if you think that pregnant women should be physically hindered from aborting then what you're really supporting is slavery.

I'm not saying you don't own your uterus. I'm saying killing people is wrong. If you don't want children, don't have sex. YOU have a choice. The child has no choice. YOUR position is like slavery, not mine.

If the parents don't want the child they should not have it to begin with. Period.
Orphanages are not always a better option, not everyone is willing to hand their child over to strangers in the hopes that they will be safe and cared for, and for that matter not everyone can hand their children over at all. The same idea applies - if a child cannot be guaranteed a life in which they are cared for and free from suffering then the parents should not have that child.

Speaking of rights - does this [potential] human being not deserve the right to a happy healthy life? Life is not a life if it is one of suffering, a mother has more rights than a collection of cells which may or may not become a life, the mother has every right to her own life and well-being, the mother also has every right to do her job as a parent by ensuring that her child has a happy healthy life.

That IS parental responsibility, are you honestly saying that you would rather have a child suffer or abused, then not have it exist to begin with? You understand this embryo is not a life, it is not thinking or feeling, it is not a baby or a human being, it is a collection of cells the same as a sperm or an egg, abortion is prevention of life - the same way as birth control or emergency contraception. It prevents a life that should not be, it's not ending a life - see difference between life and having a life, to live and living.

Seven requirements of life deem killing a plant as the same as killing a human being.

Yes, she does have a CHOICE - that's the beautiful thing about human rights, as a woman she has the right not to have children, and thus one of many reasons why abortion, birth control and emergency contraception is legal so that we have a choice whether or not to have children, we are not killing people we are preventing a person from existing.

The [potential] child has no choice, the [potential] mother is the one with the choice on how she cares for her [potential] child, and if that means making the CHOICE not to have that child to begin with then so be it. God bless family planning.

And at what point is it a person then? Is it when they are first born, or a toddler, how about it is okay to "abort them" until they turn 13? At what point does murder become wrong in your view.

My view is when there is brainwave activity starting up and/or heartbeat we have something more than a simple collection of cells. So yeah we are talking about murdering innocent children.

So you think a mother's conveinence is more important than a child's life...
