I will always remember how Jobs and the movie The Human Centipede were spoofed by South Park. I've never been much of a techno guy, and am so behind the times that I just became computer literate barely ten years ago, even I can still grasp Jobs' achievement for our age.

Steve Jobs will be remembered for his electronic products much the same way that Edison is remembered for the light bulb. Bot Jobs and Edison added to the lives of people.

RIP.

You will be greatly missed. Thank you for the many years of computer memories.

Damn, he'd been falsely reported dead so many times that I'd been skeptical when I first heard this at work, especially given the iPhone thing. I've always admired his talent for taking gee whiz technical gadgets and making them both useful and accessible for everyone, a much rarer ability than pure innovation. He will be missed.

Kind of expecting something like this, but looks like the Westboro Baptist Church is going to be picketing Steve Jobs' funeral. I guess he did something right...

Steve Jobs' Funeral to be Picketed by Westboro Baptist Church

The article also says that WBC tweeted via their iPhone. How ironic! lol

RIP Steve Jobs; you were so dedicated and made so many people happy with the quality of your Apple products (aka the "fruit" of his labor lol).

This is devastating news. I am really upset by this.
I just went and left some flowers and a card in tribute to him outside the Apple Store.

The same thing they have against everyone else. Or perhaps they had a lucrative "float Steve Jobs death Twitter rumor / short Apple stock" thing going, you never know with them.

Farewell, Steve Jobs. As a long-time user of Mac computers, I can't help but feel sad about his death. :(

He was the Walt Disney of computing.

I was astonished when I heard the news. He has taken medical leave a few times but has come back again. Although he recently resigned, and said that he knew the day had come he could no longer be the CEO of Apple, and things didn't look too optimistic, at the back of my mind, I was kind of expecting a news report some time in the future to say he beat it again and will be back at work. I have been going on Facebook, Sina microblog and news websites to read what people are writing about this.

I enjoyed using the iMac in school as a primary school kid, although my parents are former employees of another American technology company and we purchase computers of this brand, to this day. (In fact I am using one of those computers to type this now.) More recently, we have used the iPad to view an election parody video as a family, and my dad also used it to show my grandfather Youtube videos about 30s-70s Chinese movie stars.

R.I.P. Mr Jobs.

I read an article last night that called him a "pancreatic cancer survivor," which was amazing (I gather that that kind of cancer has a really low survival rate). It's too bad that was a premature conclusion. Hope his kids are grown.

This is sadly ironical.

You know how on Facebook, it's indicated at the bottom of some posts that those were posted "via Mobile"? On Sina microblog, these footers are more detailed. They include "posted from iPhone", "posted from iPad", "posted from HTC software", "posted via (app)" etc. The usual "posted from iPad" and "posted from iPhone" footers have been changed to "posted from Steve Jobs' iPad" and "posted from Steve Jobs' iPhone".

I also saw this status update in my news feed: iPhone 4S = iPhone for Steve

For the longest time, early in the history of personal computers, companies came and went. Other than Apple, if it wasn't compatible with the IBM PC, and then later the Windows OS, that computer company went out of business. Apple was the exception. So many features in the computers running Windows (and Windows, itself) were innovated by Apple, and of course, Steve Jobs.

Losing his leadership at Apple, and then regaining it was also amazing. As with the graphical user interface for the OS, Apple (and Steve Jobs) didn't invent the MP3 player, but you could say they perfected it. They certainly made it hugely successful. A true paradigm shift. Then they (Apple and Steve Jobs) did the same for the cell phone. Remember Palm? They were on top when Apple announced the iPhone. I was as surprised as any with the introduction of the iPad. It is just a big iPhone Touch. You can't argue with success. Another shift. Will Apple continue to innovate so successfully? We can all hope so. Even if we don't use their products.

So long Steve. Thank you.

Add that he even brushed up on Walt's work with Pixar.

I think every news article on the topic should read "WBC Threaten to Pickit Jobs Funeral Says Phelps Via IPhone"

Jobs resisted his doctors' recommendations for evidence-based medical intervention for nine months, instead consuming a special alt-med diet to thwart the disease

The wiki says this.

That is what probably what screwed him over.
